Refusing outside financing is becoming more common. Dealerships get kickbacks from whatever lender they use, and given the loan sizes these days to purchase a new car the kickbacks can be sizeable. If a dealership's business model relies on those kickbacks to turn a profit then they can't sell a car without going through their lender. Seems stupid to make those kinds of business deals, but there it is...
Never knew that was a thing. At least in Canada I never heard it was. Then again I am a very small sample size of Canada!

Everything happens for a reason, this whole ordeal has been stressful. If anyone has any idea why transmission is jumping out of park into drive and reverse I could use help. Bronco is going to kill somebody. I need to fix it so it can find new home. I will give shout out to VW of McKinney Texas, that is the dealership with the sketchy business model.

Go to another dealer.

This video below transmission going forward in reverse, you can hear catalytic converter too. Car won’t get over 1500 rpm either a few times, control knob blinks, hope the video Explains it better than me.

I've read through this thread a few times. I certainly understand ppl who have bought lemons getting angry about their situation and becoming sour. I probably would too. However, the generalizations about the build quality and statements that there are a lot of unhappy customers are just false. The Sport has been and continues to be a massive sales success for Ford. This isn't the first or second year, it is year 4 of this model. If it were the flaming turd that some believe it to be, sales would not be this strong after 3 years of turdness. Simple truth is that there will be bad builds on the Sport - as well as the Hyundai Kona or the Chevy Blazer. Just go check out their forums - there are folks just like you relaying their tales of a pretty bad vehicle. Does it mean that they are terrible cars on the whole? No. But those particular individual cars are.

I gave up on buying used cars about 6-7 years ago. With all the tech involved in modern vehicles, I figured there would be more lemons. Low mileage used cars, I thought (and I believe correctly) would be more prevalent with lemons as ppl get frustrated and trade them in. Moreover, with the prices of used cars, it isn't even much of an incentive to buy used anymore.

I'd never buy a used BS with the 1.5L. Very easy to abuse that engine if you cowboy it.

The Honda guy offered 17% interest. When I said we weren’t financing car thru them they instantly said they dont accept outside financing. I said cash and he upped price from 30-39k. Still got Bronco sport can’t get it out of driveway. Litterally won’t go into gear without slamming drivetrain. Have no clue what is wrong with it. Catalytic converter is almost thousand if I repair it, transmission no clue and axle grinding the least of my worry’s. Blazer was only car the daughter liked. Thanks Jason @ Holiday Ford/ Chevy. Whitesboro, Texas.
The first 3 sentences sound like a typical sleazy dealer trying to make money in any way possible. Like leading with a low-ball price, and not disclosing the in-house financing requirement until the marks -- I mean "valued customers" -- are on the hook.

17% interest?! I've heard higher, but that's up there.

At least they were upfront about it -- well, after you were in the dealership...

There is a dealer in Kansas that posts on YouTube a lot. They attract buyers from around the country. They offer free shipping, IF the buyer gets their financing through them (IIRC it has to be a certain percentage financed).

As for the cat, axle, and transmission problems, I can't recall (I've read too many posts), is the BS under warranty? Has a dealer looked at it?

Your transmission is part of the powertrain, which is warranted for 5y/60K miles. You need to take it to a dealership to get it fixed under warranty. There is no way anyone can diagnose this issue by watching the video you posted. It's clearly malfunctioning. Why, and what will it take to fix? Those questions will only be answered by a visit to an authorized service center.

No she has 90 k on it, Bob Utter Ford had it 5-6 time while it was under warranty never could fix axle, finally told us not to bring it back until it’s broken. I have video of that in too. I’m used to work on aircraft and am pretty decent mechanic. But cars require reprogramming and it’s not just matter find defective parts anymore. Cat and transmission just happened with in last couple weeks. Cat is flex pipe on bottom is broke, to bad it’s attached to 800 dollar cat. Tranmission is mystery, axle is drivers side transaxle not sure what is putting it in a bind but it pops and grinds. Has for last 45 k miles. Waiting for it to break in half. I’ll up load video tell me you can’t find problem.

Mine is back in the shop.
bad alternator
Bad timing belt
And possible bad transmission

we got someone’s lemon
I wish Ford would step up and replace the bad ones. Some of these are absolutely perfect and others are failing horribly.
I love Bronco… I’m so sad
