It was removed from the 23 Edge as well.
I thought I’d heard that. Now I wonder if that’s because of the chip shortage? At first I thought because the Edge is going away anyways. Or is Ford discontinuing this feature altogether?

I wonder if it’s because we now have FordPass. I’ve enjoyed the keypad for decades and it provides peace of mind. I’ll be really disappointed if it’s being discontinued.

That’s exactly what I’m afraid of. While I love all the technology Ford puts into their vehicles & choose them in part for that, the FordPass tech I haven’t found that useful. I certainly wouldn’t pay a subscription fee for it, though thankfully Ford hasn’t gone that way. The app spends most of its time just telling me that remote features are disabled to preserve battery. Glad I can remote start from my fob.

I just read that both Maverick and Bronco have dropped it for 2024. Very disappointing.

No Ford Pass?
I'd miss it.

It’s Ford Pass that should stick around. I’m grateful Ford doesn’t charge for it unlike almost everybody else with an app it seems. Even if it seems to always disable itself on me…

No, sadly for those who love it, it’s securicode which seems to be going away. I really do like the lighted integration with the door & am sad to see it on the MIA list for the BS in 24, but apparently more than just the BS is losing it too.

No not FordPass, the securilock keypad, formerly referred to as keyless entry, that has been a fantastic staple on Ford products for several decades.

I hope this isn't the issue. I think most use it to keep their keys locked inside while they go out hiking or at the beach. The times I've been to the beach I have no cell phone service.

Maybe it is the chip shortage and they're prioritizing it on higher end models or just saving those chips for other parts? I had a Ford Escort ZX2 back in the early '00s and didn't even think the buttons were on most Fords.

I’ve had it on all Ford vehicles going back decades. Definitely on Explorers in the 90’s/2000’s. I love the fearure.

Securicode tended to get segmented by trim in a lot of models over the years, with the lowest/some lower trims not having it. It's disappointing that Ford is removing it even as an option. The dealer installed version hurts the vehicle aesthetics and, to ease installation, has a limited lifespan because the battery is sealed - from what I've heard, 5 to 7 years is typical. Not a big deal if you're leasing or frequently get new vehicles, but for those who hold onto vehicles longer, annoying.

With all the dropped features and missing parts why doesn't Ford just rename the BS the Pinto 2 Station Wagon and be done with it.

I heard Dearborn was considering it but its rear end accident protection was too good. They didn't want to confuse anyone.

I just received my long awaited 2024 Bronco Sport Badlands - see my reintroduction post.
A couple of surprises:
1. The under hood blanket is there!
2. The panel under the glovebox area (passenger footwell) is there. I have one of these on backorder, but will not cancel the order. It will make a nice birthday present for my neighbor and her '23 BS Big Bend.
3. the illuminated door keypad is identical to the one on my 3rd gen Escape. It is not the stick-on used on the Maverick and Bronco. Thank you Ford.
I've only been able to drive it the 4 miles home from the dealer due to a sudden illness, and it's best that I don't drive for a few days. I was in the ER a few hours before my BS Badlands delivery.
My initial impressions are mixed.
The cockpit, wonderful. Happy, Happy.
The advanced cruise control options surprised me, but in a good way. A car in front of me was turning left and my car slowed down. Usually, I would just zoom around on the right side without slowing down much. It brought a smile to my face.
The Falken WIldpeaks are very rumbly. I thought the Goodyear Weather Readys that I had on my traded '17 Escape were rumbly. Good thing I decided to buy without a test drive, or I might have not gone with the Falkens. My dislike of the Pirelli's though would have me replacing them in short order. I suspect that it will take a bit of time to get used to them.
