You can go to most any chain auto parts store and they will test the battery in front of you for free, then you'll actually know it was tested and the actual result.
Like I said in my earlier post, I had to go to the dealer 3 times, the last time I said I don't want the vehicle back until its fixed. I had the randome no start problem, the dash would sometimes light up like a Cristmas tree, randomly stall out, various system error messages would pop up and the auto start stop wouldnt work, the message would be auto start stop not available battery charging. I could drive 100 miles and the message would be the same. Basically I couldnt trust it. After the battery was replaced I have not had anymore electrical issues.

Maybe you have a different issue with your Sport, I hope you get it resolved, the Badlands are bad ass when working correctly.
I have a battery tester and the results were coming back normal. The dealer did just reach back out and came to the conclusion the battery is the issue and they are swapping it out. Im going to hope this solves my issue like it solved yours!

haha well the dealer just reached out and said its a bad battery. Im going to hope this finally fixes the problem we will see! If the problem does come back I will come update this thread though!
I picked up my Bronco. It doesn't smell like dead animals anymore, and it has started so far everytime I've needed it. I'm waiting for parts for the rear end now, which will be another week or so.

Well ... poop. Mine is going in for this today.
Oddly, I think I've got 2 separate issues.
A week ago today, I tried to remote start, it failed, when I got to the Bronco it started clicking, warnings popping up, lights flashing, etc. Thought maybe I messed something up when trying to remote start, so waited about 30 minutes, tried again and it started... but NO RADIO OR PHONE AUDIO. I drove home, that was it. I read up on resetting the Sync3, soft and master, did both; no success.

Friday I called the dealership, their "radio guy" is contract so I made an appointment to drop it off today.

Saturday I get in it to go somewhere and it won't start, clicking, headlights flashing etc., I waited another 30 minutes and it started fine.

This morning I get ready to go to work. Same thing. 4 hours later and it still wont start.

@TxBecky … let’s hope the dealership replaces the battery and both problems solved!! Sometimes it can be a simple solution.

I have had this same thing. But I have an Outer Banks. First time it happened, tow truck driver said it was shifter. He went under the hood and it all stopped and i drove as fast as i could the 80 miles to dealer. They looked at me like I was crazy when I said the shifter, they checked the battery, said it was fine, did the recall (which I ordered months before) and sent me on my way. Next day, same thing happened. I had it towed in this time, even though it started up ok when the tow truck driver got here. Ford put in a new battery and said that was it. They told me to come pick it up, then the service manager heard the backing up screaming noise that happens sporadically, and said never mind. They were going to fix that first ( it was going to be $2500 but I've been bringing it in for that since about 20k miles so I got the price down to $200. Anyway......I'm afraid to drive it any distance now, but I will pick it up today and see what happens. I loved that car til I didn't. I have 63,000+ miles on it and will probably trade in for something else, but not Ford, I'm afraid. I've heard the electric thing is a Ford thing and not necessarily Bronco. I loved my Bronco.

best to find out exactly what the dealership would have done for the $2500 (now $200)… that sounds like a scam at $2500
It would have been under warranty if they had found it the first several times I took it in. Rear bearings, I think? I'll know for sure in a bit

It was the rear axle. The bill to repair was about $3500. I ended up paying $1011, but I got a text saying something was billed incorrectly. they didn't get my dead animal charge or new battery. I was expecting about that amount for everything, so I'm not sure what I owe for, if they owe me anything back or what. But the electric, flashing lights was "fixed" with a new battery, dead animal removed for the smell and rear axle for the screaming sound. I hope it's going to hold!!!!!

Good morning! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

Good that they "extended" the warranty but if it's an issue you've asked for service and they haven't been able to resolve...they will resolve it. Local dealer many years ago tried that crap with a ranger I had. Long story short Ford ensured it was fixed properly.
This makes me wonder… I have a 2021 ford bronco sport first edition and my car failed in the middle of the road and all the errors flashed on the display, the car died, the tail lights flashed in a very muted fashion while all my speakers made a heartbeat sound. Everything turned off and on and the car itself tried to go to Park position and the gear shifter got stuck in reverse for a while. Had it towed to a dealership and they say it is just the battery… but how will I know to service the battery? Never had an issue starting the vehicle, it happened out of the blue while slowing down on a major road, and the dealership won’t replace the battery under warranty even under 3 years lifespan. This seems to be a major issue with the Bronco Sports…. And dangerous since I had to stand next to a vehicle on the road that didn’t have flashers even functional.

It's hard to say exactly how the battery failed and if you could have done anything or if you should have received some kind of warning. If an internal cell suddenly had a mechanical fault, then there would be no way to prevent it and no warning that it was going to happen. If the battery was just getting weaker, then yes you should have had some indication but even then the BS seems to be very sensitive to battery voltage level.

That’s fair. I got the battery replaced with an AGM style and they updated all the software systems and confirmed my alternator wasn’t to blame. It rides fine now. 4 other broncos in the family… fingers crossed they don’t experience anything similar.

Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Atlas Blue Metallic
Team:

I ordered my 23 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands in August of 22, and it arrived in December 22, literally picked it up on 12/31/22.

So it is now coming up on 1 year old. It only has right at 9K miles on it. Almost all of that is from 3 road trips, as I work from home and really only leave to take my kid to school which is about 15 minutes away.... still has the little hair thingees on the tires...

This car replaces a 2010 Honda Pilot with close to 200K miles. It was likely the best car I ever owned, but it was big, and old, and I was worried about reliability, etc... Figured the new car would have me set for about 5-6 years...

There are things that I find frustrating about the Bronco Sport (Lakota). Like the ridiculously thin hood and roof metal, and the laughably cheap plastic arm rest. (My GF has a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, that she bought pre-pandemic for $38K. I bought my Bronco Sport for $48K. Sitting in the car there is no question on which one is more comfortable and has quality components). That said, I Love my ride, and have spent lavishly on it to "make it mine." Lights, skid plates, lifts, etc... Hell, I'm scheduled to have lights added to the roof rack on 12/22...

On Tuesday 12/12, I recieved the System Charging Error message, and after dropping my son at school, drove straight to the dealership and they have had it ever since.... I don't even think they've worked on it for 2.5 days (my Ford Apps Odometer hasn't changed and I haven't recieved more errors on the phone).

I reached out to the FMC on Thursday and we've been going back and forth but it is just so frustrating seeing these issues on the Bronco Sport. One of the main reasons I bought the Sport was for the reliability, and never regretted passing up the big brother.

Just like everyone else running into this issue, everything supposedly checks out fine... I read that someone replaced a 3 amp fuse (part # MU5Z-14626-AZA) and I passed that on. I was told they tried that (strongly think that was a fib) but that it didn't work. Hell I'll buy a AGM battery even if that may not be the problem just to see if it fixes my ride...

If someone has had this concern, and had it successfully resolved, I would love to hear from you guys so that it will restore my faith abit. Right now I feel like I can't drive it anywhere...

Thanks,

F

@RogueRodney if you were to go through all the posts there are other posts similar to yours. No way to know for sure if the battery is the primary cause of the issue you are seeing but your driving habits really aren’t the best for the bronco sports battery unless you were to consistently use a trickle charger. Let’s see what the dealership tells you (others with similar issues report typically a battery replacement solved their issue but there have been other causes as well).

I only found the part# you referenced in an article for full size bronco.. do you have a link showing is for the bronco sport?

“…top positive terminal has a 3amp fuse that is not seating that controls only the dash light ,replace the part# MU5Z-14626- AZA…”
