Has anyone purchased and extended warranty for their BS Badlands? Why or why not? I’d love to hear your reasoning either way.
about ready to pick up mine and still indecisive.

We have one on my wife’s van. It’s already saved us close to $1000 dollars over what it actually cost us to buy the warranty. Of course the Van is a Chrysler product so….?

My wife will get one when her '23 BS BL arrives. Probably go 8/100 like I did with my '22 FE Ti in May. I did 8/125 through Flood on my '14 FE Ti.

I printed out Flood's quote in May and dealer matched it. Check Flood, Ziegler, and Granger online.

Online articles say don't get an extended warranty, as you most likely won't need it. Just save the money for the warranty for repairs, if needed.

I do it for peace-of-mind. There have been some expensive, well-publicized Ford failures the past few years. The smaller Ecoboost and coolant intrusion, transmission failures. Electronics can quickly become costly repairs.

For example, neighbors on OBX bought a used FE at Flood (they used to live in RI) last year for their daughter in college. She needed a vehicle. They bought an ESP. Wanted to know that the used Ford had a warranty for their daughter.

We ALWAYS get the extended warranty, but from Ford Protect and not the dealer. Better price and better coverage. i.e. my last 2022 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend was $3615 for 8 yrs and 125,000 miles. You pay the same whether you buy day one or wait until year three of 3/36000.

Yes - if you get a good deal on it, it easily pays for itself. There is a dealer here on this forum offering Ford ESP plans for almost cost. I haven't seen a better deal anywhere else. You can search and find them.

My dealership, like many others, offered a different extended warranty plan from the actual Ford ESP plan. For what it's worth, I'd never buy an extended warranty from anybody but the actual manufacturer. It's not uncommon for these generic extended warranty companies to go out of business, and there goes your warranty. As long as Ford exists, your Ford ESP plan is good.

I purchased the 8yr/100K from Granger Ford. I purchase it for the peace of mind. It's always ideal if you never have to use it. After buying the Ford extended warranty for quite a few vehicles, I actually had an expensive job on a 2017 Escape covered... That's the first time I've come out ahead... but again, I'm paying for peace of mind and don'td mind paying for that for modern automobiles that have so much that can go wrong.

As others said, it’s for piece of mind. Hopefully you never need it but it’s great if you do. It’s like any insurance or casino. The house always comes out on top but there are always winners too.

You can’t beat the Granger deal.

Bought it because I could roll it into the financing and it was not a significant increase to monthly payment. Granted the monthly payment is huuuuge on cars now. By far the most I have ever made, but I wanted the 0% offer! Considering that even a bad headlight will set you back $2k, I think it can pay for itself, even just in peace of mind. It would kinda be nice/not nice if it actually paid for itself so I am just enjoying the worry free 125,000 miles.

Factory I think was covered for 30k miles or three years whichever comes first I think. I did purchase an extended warranty for 60k miles or 6 years as they gave me a good deal on it and it was transferable and refundable if I traded or sold the vehicle before I used any of the extended warranty. I had an extended warranty on my F150 and it's saved me a few times from some hefty repairs so I went for it just based on my experiences with my F150.

Most dealerships use an outside insurance company for their extended warranties. I prefer to buy mine from Ford at half the cost and twice the coverage. I use FORD PROTECT!

I may get one in month #35.
I think I’m more likely going to trade in/up if mine still has all this resale value.
But we all should remember that they would not offer these extended warranties if there was not a substantial profit in doing so.
Ponder this on the, “Tree of Woe”
FWIW this subject was beat hard in a previous thread.
Starting to lust after a Maverick just a bit.
But I’ll wait another year or two so they can get the bugs out.
I want AWD hybrid that I can plug in.

I bought Ford Protect, not from the dealer, 8 years, 100,000 miles ($100 deductible) whichever is first for $2810, it even covers the key fobs.
