We bought a 2022 Bronco Sport Big Bend last Saturday. It had 2 miles on it when we left the dealership. At around 100 miles, I started hearing a whining sound. Long story short, after 2 trips to the dealership, they agreed that the rearend is bad and ordered one, and gave us a loaner. Had not even had the car a week, less than 400 miles. This is our first Ford and I’m regretting it. Anybody else have this problem or something similar?

I have driven nothing but mustangs since 93 and no issues. Try wife drives a 2013 flex and the only issues are because she got tboned by a hit and run driver in an expedition at high speeds (flex is a BEAST… not even close to totaled and my wife and kids are alive) and now I traded for my sport. (No more stang… bitter sweet). No issues.

there are always lemons in any line of production no matter the brand or industry. The only ones that think fords are systemically unreliable are non ford drivers.

im sorry to hear you are having issues. The only time I heard a noise was when my teenage son put something on the console and hit the 4x4 and rear diff buttons on accident at the light. Did scare me for a second and I swore it sounded weird after that. But it was totally just my paranoia. I got them off soon enough.

I hope ford takes care of you or that you have favorable lemon laws in your state. It happens.

My 2002 GMC 1500 pickup developed a whine in the rear end at about 500 miles. Dealer took it apart and said that if I hadn't brought it in, it would have grenaded in less than a couple hundred more - it was full of glitter. They replaced everything but the axle tubes, housing, and cover. Oh, and left a massive, greasy boot print on my virtually brand-new carpet. They heard about that, and (mostly) fixed it.

*edit* I had that truck for 17 years and not quite 200k miles with few additional problems - none of them major. Fear not.

BroncoMike, the dealer said the same thing about our BS, full of glitter. They have been great to deal with. Very friendly, professional, and apologetic.
Probably helps that we haven’t been angry or rude. I realize it’s not their fault. I’m just disappointed. The excitement of buying a new vehicle was very short lived (about 3 hours) and now my confidence is it’s reliability is gone.

I used to work for a major appliance manufacturer. One of the things I heard from our customer service team really stuck with me through the years. When they surveyed people who had bought our appliances they found that those people who bought them and never had an issue were far less brand loyal than those that bought and had a good customer service experience when something had to be repaired.

It sounds like Ford and your dealer are doing the right things. Once it is fixed you will hopefully feel much better about it and confident that anything else that might happen will be properly taken care of.

Meanderthal, you make a good point. Customer service is really important. Our situation would be a lot worse if we were having troubles getting the problem fixed. Hopefully this is the only issue we have and it can be fixed quickly.
I will say, though, that the 2008 Honda Civic with over 250k miles that I still daily drive has barely needed anything since we bought it new. One of the best purchases we’ve made.

Exactly. Things happen, but it's what you do to deal with the things that happen is what matters. A company that admits a mistake and does everything to resolve the mistake as quickly and professionally as possible does wonders.

Ford is only as good as its Suppliers, that holds true with any manufacture. There are duds every once in a while......At least its not the engine that needs replaced!

I bought a $65,000 top on the line Jayco Travel Trailer this year. Brought it home, It had a DEAD not working heater, meaning it never worked at all....the dealer said they "checked" everything before delivery. Neither one of the tanks would empty after our first trip....they were full of construction debris. The black tank flush was installed BACKWARDS and would not flush the tank.....needless to say, had all those issues fixed and the trailer is now great.

First I’ve heard of something like that.

that sucks. Hopefully a quick turnaround and a great ownership experience for years to come.

Just as a counterpoint, I have a coworker with a 2017 Honda CR-V and it blew a head gasket at 60,200 miles. Warranty ended at 60,000 miles and Honda is not trying to help out.

The moral is that all individual machines can have a problem here or there but it is the big picture that you should be looking at. It's hard to do that when you rely on a vehicle to get you places and not leave you stranded and in danger on the side of the road. Hopefully the good news is that you found the one problem your vehicle will have and it is getting taken care of now.
