What exactly is wrong with it?
The rear differential is bad. It started whining so we took it back to the dealer. They pulled the drain plug and metal came out.

That really sucks

It’s always frustrating when something like that happens. I guess I would feel more disappointed than anything.

My brand new 2019 Escape Titanium was rear ended about a week after getting it. $6,500 worth of repairs! Luckily, the Ford dealership did a good job and it’s been great.

I really hope my Badlands doesn’t have any mechanical issues when it arrives!

After a couple more weeks of waiting, the dealership called and said it was fixed. When I test drove it, it was making the same noise. I got the service manager to ride with me, he agreed that something was wrong.
After 2 more weeks and new wheel bearings, they called and said the second rearend is also bad (the one they pulled out of the other new bronco sport on the lot).
Now, they’re telling me they need the loaner vehicle back because we’ve reached the limit of what the warranty will cover. I called Ford Customer Care and started a lemon law claim. They said Ford is completely redesigning the whole rear end assembly due to consistent problems across similar platforms (not just the Bronco sports). No idea when the new ones will be available.

The “rearend” from the other Bronco Sport just so happened to be bad as well?

I think the chance of that happening is probably quite small.

It’s interesting that they agreed to cannibalize a perfectly good, brand new vehicle for you. I’m not sure why they would do that when they could easily sell it. The dealers I’ve used would not do that.

Are you sure they did?

Is there any other information about Ford’s redesign of the “rearend” somewhere? Wouldn’t this be big news?

I agree with everything you’re saying. I’m just passing along the information I’ve received from Ford today. I don’t know that they replaced anything, but speculating about it doesn’t change my situation.
Side note: does it bother you that I called it a rearend? Just wondering why you put it in quotes. What’s the word I should use?

It doesn’t bother me. It‘s just ambiguous. I didn’t mean anything by it.

This is the frustrating thing about dealing with dealerships. They tell you it’s one thing and it turns out it’s not
if they even bothered to actually diagnose and/or fix it properly.

If there is a problem with the rearends of Bronco Sports I think we should all know, especially those of us about to put money down!

Have you considered getting a second opinion? I know you probably want to get rid of it at this point but it may be worth a try.

I have considered getting a second opinion, but until today, the dealership has been great, and I had no reason to doubt their ability or desire to make things right.
Today, they weren’t as nice. Seemed like they were frustrated and just wanted to wash their hands and be done with the situation. And after Ford Customer Care said they’re redesigning the parts and no telling when they’ll be out, I’m ready to wash my hands of it too. Very disappointed with the whole situation, but there are more important things, all vehicles will break eventually. I just hope Ford makes it right.

Bad rear differentials in sports are not common so that dealer feeding you a bunch of BS. They don't know what they are doing, failed to fix problem, and now making lame excuses hoping you go away.

I would file case with Ford and keep on with the lemon law process. Also bad online reviews for crappy service are in order.

Is def dealer shop dependent. The Ford dealer I bought mine from was awesome for purchasing but, Their shop and shop manager are the most incompetent dipshits. The dealer I didn’t buy from has meh sales but really good techs that actually fix things. I’m not in the parking lot fixing what they were supposed to fix like my purchasing dealer.
