Where to start, adding mods is my new hobby. I actually ran out of new things to add. My mods are geared more toward the Miami environment. I'm originally a country boy from the NW, blazing trails in a 4X4, trailbike, snowmobile or hiking boots is in my blood. Now I'm living in the middle of a concrete jungle so I embraced that and geared mods to my new home. First was the exhaust, I added a Cat Back system which transformed my OB. The sound is surprisingly awesome, a low growl, no drone, better power and less weight. All in all number 1 on my list. Second mod was my intake system. Intake and exhaust go hand in hand. Each is enhanced by the other. I switched out the air box to intake hose with a smooth bore hose, added a K&N filter and called it good. Together these two mods made a noticeable difference in mpg and in power when playing around in Sport Mode. The third mod, I had Ceramic tint installed on the front windows to match the rest at 24% as well as a strip on the windshield. These three mods are my favorite ones. The rest as follows:
*Hood Struts
*LED Bulbs, Brake, Turn, Backup
*UPR Catch Can
*Dash Cover
*Console Tray
*Rear Bumper Cover
*McGard Lug Nuts, Black Chrome W/Locks
*Bronco Valve Stem Caps
*Aero Hood Protector
*Ford Side Window Deflectors
*Console Pad
*Cup Holder Phone Mount
*Foldable Rear Storage
Next will be a factory Rear Bumper Skin with a hitch cutout and trailer hitch. After that who knows, the aftermarket is still catching up on BS mods and accessories. I'll be adding more for sure as time goes on. Really a fun hobby, takes me back to the 70s in High School. Had no money then but still managed to mod my ride.
I believe that the replacement bumper skin requires your making your own hitch cutout.

Yes, after looking at all the replacement part it looks like it. A good reason to buy a new tool to make a good cut)

I’m pretty sure that there’s a specific bumper skin for the factory hitch option which already has the opening molded in.

My favorite thing about all of you folks is that you share the same passion for your Sports as I do. I'm curious to see what your absolute favorite modifications to your Sport are. Pictures are encouraged, especially if your mods are DIY or super unique! I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

For me, it's been the little things. I haven't wanted to add anything too permanent that can't be removed and added to my ordered Badlands. Unfortunately it's bye bye fender flares and decals when the time comes, but the flares came as part of my purchase deal anyway! Not a huge loss. I've already got a more permanent list going for my Badlands, including LED lit "Bronco" bumper lettering, tinted windows, and some meaner tires. My current Big Bend mods include:
  • Mountain decals, cargo windows and above Ford logo
  • Airdesign Fender Flares
  • Mud flaps
  • Thule Evo roof bars and Thule Canyon XT rack
  • Screen protector for infotainment screen
  • Rear seat cover for the dog
  • Ford OEM rubber floor mats

That's an error in the parts catalog. The bumper that ends in SC is the one from the First Edition/standard tow package.
I think it was @bjbena that ordered a bumper cover to that had the cutout already in it.
That was me with the help of @vxarctic. As mentioned, as long as the part ends in SC you'll get the right bumper. No cutting required.

It is my understanding that all have been superseded by Part #: 17906, which is black with no pre-cut opening...including that for the First Edition. In the original part number, the S was the vendor, the A-E is the revision. SE will fit SA, but SA may not necessarily fit SE. A skin with a cutout would not (should not) have been a revision. It would have been a different part number. (replacement skins have lines for the cut...but there may be some available out there, pre-revision with the cut, i.e., suffix SBPTM ) Also, you must remember that engineering parts (factory) are not always the same as service parts. (i.e., engineering part comes in gray, service part comes only in gloss black and must be sanded and painted gray) Again...it's all to the best of my FoMoCo parts knowledge, which could very well be wrong. Just my .02 ?

Nope. You are wrong, to an extent. As I mentioned, M1PZ-17906-SC is the correct number for the bumper with the factory cutout. The same bumper without the cutouts but with rear sensors (OB) ends in SE. The cover for a Base or BB ends in SB.

With your theory, a non tow package OB bumper would fit a FE with tow package?

If:

M=Year code
1P=Product line code
Z=Design / Engineering department responsibility code
17906-Part number (usually the service part number*)
SC=Vendor code / Product release or revision code

There is no space left to designate a particular model (BB, OB, etc.) within the product line. The Suffix always denotes the change level, for example: A = 1st change level, B = 2nd change level, Z = 26th change level, SAA = 27th change level. That doesn't mean that you won't get an engineering part when ordering a service part, but "officially" you cannot order any engineering parts (i.e., assembly line part). Generally even part number are right hand parts and odd are left side parts. Single parts may have either designation. Assembly part Number and Service Parts Part Number are rarely, if ever, the same. *For example, a cylinder head may have a Basic Part Number on the castings of "6049", but a Basic Part Number in the Service Parts books of "6090". In addition, the Suffix used on the casting is, more often than not, different from the Suffix used in the Service Parts book.

If you request part number M1PZ-17906-SC your parts person will very likely order part number 17906 (because it supersedes all part numbers) and receive whatever revision they have at the warehouse. In some cases, where parts are not going to be available, you may receive a production part (actually pulled from the assembly line), but believe me, it is very, very rare.

You may disagree. I don't mind. ?

Thank you for this info. I don't know if I will ever need it but in my many years of experience, I wish I had this kind of info for every car, I ever owned or machine, I ever owned or worked on.

However you want to dissect it is on you. If someone wants to order the bumper with the cutout, order SC.
