So go outside and verify that the cargo platform is symmetrical.

I think that 2” ratchet straps might be overkill for BS cargo. On my motorcycle I use “Rok Straps” and they are pretty awesome.

If you went that route you could probably use smaller tie down points.
still in design phase
2nd scenario
leave platform "as is" and not topsie-turvie
attach mounts on underside
attach nylon strap to bracket mounts (underside mounted)
slip nylon strap topside along outer edge of platform
exposed topside strap ratchet or d-ring

concept is strong
may stick with this one
advantage: topside remains as oppose to earlier presented idea
advantage: rubber cargo mat remains in place

disadvantage: ???? nothing comes to mind yet

There are no tiedown points near the cargo floor--they're all up high along the sides. When you go over a big enough bump at a high enough speed your stuff will come off the floor and slam back down unless you provide vertical restraint. That's why I would consider making your own tiedowns that attach to something under the spare tire cover.

Disregard. As MJBronco points out, there are indeed tiedown points. I have no excuse for why I've never seen them. It's very possible we are witnessing a symptom of the early stages of dementia...
crap
it's contagious

endeavors of futility
because
that's all
just because
almost becoming a hobby of mine
so now I ask myself
Kong, your rear seats are folded down damn near all the time
How might you secure a more forward and vehicle centered cargo
mmmmmm, good question self
(4) anchors located in "formal" cargo area
zilch in seats folded down area
located potentially (4) new anchor points at rear seating
Location: spot where lost pocket change and random french fries hide
probably meant for child restraint seating
pair for each seat
very strong tie point
poor location though
needs creativity to become useful

Nylon straps under the cargo area floor with sewn eye loops that come up at the corners to attach to might work.

Did I just get trolled?
I missed your comment, but if it helps at all the thought came from under-mattress BDSM restraint systems...lol. The sewn eyes is because I made hammock tree straps because why just buy something when you can make it yourself for 25% more...

yes, you can use child car seat restraint holding points as a tie down when back seat is in the upright position or the flat cargo position. There are three points that will function as tie down points.

That makes me think that the headrest posts could also be used for tie-down points. You have to be careful though because the seat back could bounce.

There are actually four great anchors built in. ROK straps might work perfectly.

ROK straps... well, they rock. Worlds better than bungees.

For something a little heavier, I like RollerCam straps - they don't generally cinch down as firmly as a ratchet strap, but also less bulky and store compactly. An improvement on the ubiquitous cam buckle strap.
