Looking for recommendations on tie downs for the rear cargo area.

Also, not sure what the best tie down points are.

Depends on what you're trying to tie down and for which activities. If you just looking to prevent things sliding around while daily driving then you can probably get by with a bin and a rubber mat. If you want to prevent ALL movement for, say, serious off roading, then you'll likely need to install some custom tie down points attached to something under the spare tire cover.

I'll probably route straps with d-rings on the ends through the spare tire, with the d-rings above the tire cover. These will serve as attach points for cargo restraints.

Forgot to look at how the Off-Roadeo rigs used tie downs in the back but they did have ratchet straps and I assume they were attached to OEM points. Looking for off-road securing.

There are no tiedown points near the cargo floor--they're all up high along the sides. When you go over a big enough bump at a high enough speed your stuff will come off the floor and slam back down unless you provide vertical restraint. That's why I would consider making your own tiedowns that attach to something under the spare tire cover.

Disregard. As MJBronco points out, there are indeed tiedown points. I have no excuse for why I've never seen them. It's very possible we are witnessing a symptom of the early stages of dementia...

cargo bungee netting
multiple ways to configure
have used in trailer / truck bed application
just need to establish tie-down points

(edit....light bulb moment)
my earlier success with velco to the fuzzy carpet seat backing
worked great for rubberized seat backs (base model...no snaps)
if one were to use bungee cargo webbing it could be held by velcro straps
thread velco through web and press velco on to carpeted anchor points
lock down point could be at any fuzzy carpet site no permanent fixed point
I may need to order more velco gang :D

I think you will be underwhelmed by the performance of Velcro as a tie down point.

cargo area correct?
goal is just to prevent cabin items from shifting or becoming airborne
consider bungee netting does have some play to it
like a willow in a windstorm, grasshopper
previous experience using velcro proved more than I expected in grip
adhesive backed velco on the rubberized seat backs was astounding
honestly I think they might hold tighter than the snaps
no joke it was a "holyshit" event
had to really use quite a bit of pull to get them to release
Option no.1
4"x4" ply blocks, industrial adhesive velco & flush mount D-ring
larger block for surface contact area might be determined by load
advantage - temporary non-fixed, no alteration to cargo decking
disadvantage - not yet tested
Option no.2
install shallow flush mount D-rings into the cargo deck
secondary plate on underside of deck for additional strength
advantage - that bastards going no where without taking the deck with it
disadvantage - permanent fixture, cargo decking modification

looking at these two my first choice would be a trial run with the velcro
if indeed it's a bust with minimal effort put in then it's on to other means

There absolutely are tie down points near the bottom edge of the sides of the cargo area. I believe 4 but I'm too lazy to walk outside

My prediction, if the Velcro does hold, the adhesive will fail at some point in the summer. Tension/heat/adhesive - not a good combo. Maybe with some epoxy instead?

I am just amazed of the lack of tie downs.

the adhesives on the strips I used was the real deal
once contact was made to the surface that was it
had some summer direct sunlight applications on the boat
while not for heavy objects it did well on portable items
fish finders, trolling motor controls, rod holders
did well under extreme weather conditions
tugging on the velcro to release the adhesives held
just don't go for the cheap materials
throw a few bucks at it

Has anyone thought about using an endless ratchet strap?

the curse lives on
retired
friend Bohdan says to me "stay busy"
from that moment on the curse of Bohdan has plagued me
visit friendly bronco sport forum
curse activates into hyperdrive mode

anchor point project
*thanks Bohdan*
okay....critique this one boys and girls
let's assume the cargo platform is symmetrical
if yes proceed
the cargo platform should be able to ride underside up
place cargo platform with the underside up in cargo area
fasten the locking fasteners in place to the bottom side of platform
nifty anchor setup is now function-able
when not needed flip platform over to original side
anchor system is then in a hidden mode until needed

okay kiddos
critique time
let me have it before I commit to build mode

So go outside and verify that the cargo platform is symmetrical.

I think that 2” ratchet straps might be overkill for BS cargo. On my motorcycle I use “Rok Straps” and they are pretty awesome.

If you went that route you could probably use smaller tie down points.
