Understood... but seems many have had varying degrees of success and failure.. suppose I'm a pessimist : (....

Like playing poker I suppose I could threaten to return the vehicle and stomp out of the dealership disgusted... but they'd know I'm lying and too attached to this awesome little SUV... as we all seem to be here, lol
Absolutely, there is no guarantee that any given person will get the panel replaced under warranty.

I've been told that our panel has been ordered, but no further update.

Also still waiting on a reply regarding the folding rear head rests. I'm not holding my breath.

One bit of related good news -- our dealer emailed me today and said that the Curt Shackle hitch receiver is in. I had asked about getting one (to provide a rear recovery point) but thought the chance of it actually happening was very slim. That's a good sign.

Got my car 3 weeks ago. Went to pull a fuse and the bottom panel of the dash that meets the fuse box was completely missing. Went to the dealership and they were gonna just pull it off a bronco they had in the lot and that one was also missing it.

Ford Bronco Sport Anyone else missing the panel under the dash above the passenger side fuse box where the floor air ducts are. DE1D7D32-E333-46AC-A51A-7160D533020E
My BS arrived at the dealer today so we began the purchase process over the phone. I mentioned the engine cover and dash panel. My dealer checked and neither were there. I told him I at least want the dash panel comped and that it was ridiculous that Ford has begun doing this to brand new vehicles and haven’t let customers know properly or at all.
I know it’s not the dealers fault but y’all gotta work with customers who pay $40k for a new vehicle to not have basic parts included and that we’re included just months ago.

As you said this is ridiculous, and Ford is compounding the problems by not notifying potential buyers and owners of the missing parts. Apparently their business plan is to hope people do not notice, and blow them off if they do.

Not only are they not letting people know about the missing or discontinued parts, when most 2022 models were ordered, the glossy pamphlets were not available -- only the 2021 pamphlet. In addition, the 2022 "build tool" said/says nothing about the:

* Engine cover
* Hood insulation
* Dash panel
* Rear headrests
* Tow package eliminates the mounting hole for the towing eye

There are other issues as well.

In our case, I've accepted that the engine cover was probably discontinued (vs a supply shortage). It's just cosmetic (AFAIK), so no great loss. The hood insulation is there. The dash panel is supposedly on order. The dealer comped us the Curt shackle hitch receiver to replace the rear recovery point eliminated by the tow package.

I was just informed today that there are only 2 options for headrests available. One is similar to the existing (fixed) headrests and the other ones have DVD players built into them.(?) In addition, if the dealer is able to find the correct folding headrests, we would have to pay full price for them.

In the same email, the sales manager said that the dealership had to eat the cost of the dash panel. If that's true, it's not right. *FORD* is responsible for these missing parts, and Ford should cover the cost, period.

We're only aware of all of these missing parts because they are visible. It makes one wonder what else might have been deleted.

Still fighting with my sales manager for my missing hood insulation and hush panel, I've accepted I won't win the battle for the engine cover. Mine was also misbuilt with fog lights not included but should have been and that's another nightmare in itself. I have to show up weekly just so they know I mean business. Totally ridiculous. Been dealing with this since March.

A smart company would make it right ASAP, not jerk people around.

I think most people accept that COVID really screwed things up and there are legit supply shortages. So maybe issues cannot be corrected immediately, but they should step up and tell us what the deal is.

Whatever their story is about your fog lights -- discontinued or supply issues -- they should do something to take care of you -- either install the fog lights when possible or, as another forum member in your position did, make a deal. In his case he gave up the fog lights for some accessories.

The bottom line is they should offer to do something. Spending ~$40,000 -- MSRP + doc prep -- for a car with missing parts is not a good feeling -- and one that most owners will not forget.

I am certainly going to keep all this in mind, and write/talk about it at every opportunity.

I totally agree 100%. My sales manager knows I mean business. I've already said I should take this all to the news and see what they can find. I'm sure they would love the news sniffing around their dealerships. He's tried everything from the modified window sticker to saying I didn't pay some extra 3k for the package with the fog lights which he lost that battle lol Now we are awaiting the regional managers response as to how to proceed. I'm willing to work something else out like you mentioned but the fog lights will have the most value long term and I already have a shit ton of after factory mods installed so really the only thing would be maybe a hood scoop? We shall see as I am going in tomorrow and seeing what the latest "update" is.

It's good you're keeping after them. I get the impression that one of their strategies -- in addition to outright lying -- is to deflect and delay, and hope the owner eventually gives up.

They'll say something like they need to check availability of parts, and pretend that is some involved process -- rather than just picking up the phone or walking over to the parts dept. Another one is "getting an answer from Ford." Of course that can take days if not weeks because, you know, they're just a Ford dealer... :rolleyes:

The region manager should get back to the sales manager within 2-3 business days max.

Going from memory, it seems like installing the fog lights after assembly is not as straight-forward as it is on many other cars. With many accessories (like fog lights) it is common for the mfr to already have the wiring in place. Best case, you pop out the round plastic covers, secure the fog lights, and connect the wires. Unfortunately, IIRC, the BS does not have the wiring.

Of course, that's their problem not yours, but if you can think of anything you need -- like folding rear headrests -- a trade might be easier.

This doesn't help with resale value, but if it makes you feel better, I've owned and driven many vehicles with fog lights and they almost never work any better than low beams. They are essentially bling.

You might consider contacting your state attorney general's office if the dealer doesn't take care of you soon. I assume you have a window sticker that lists *Fog Lights*. That should be all you need. Slam dunk.

Sadly, some businesses do not respond to politeness and reason. The only way to get them to act right is to get an attorney involved.

Just crazy. Everyone needs to keep at these dealers and demand these parts or something else to smooth this over. I think you’re exactly right in their plan - hope people don’t care enough and forget about it or delay until they give up. What a great strategy. Ford, be better.

I can’t blame you at all. And the cx-5 carbon is a nice ride. We had considered that before going with the sport. All the best to you.

A few days ago, my dealer ordered the "under dash" panel under warranty. I picked it up and installed it today. So far they are standing their ground on the engine cover and rear tow hook, stating that Ford claims they are not part of the build.

"So mazda is out of bose speakers so they tell you on sticker and give a 440 dollar credit."

That's how these issues *should* be handled. Kudos to Mazda for raising the bar and setting an example for less ethical corporations to follow. Points for being a stand-up company.

"unlike ford whos bs models have gone up a couple grand in price, while shorting parts and not caring. Not very good business."

You got that right. Sadly, that's becoming more common -- behavior that is greedy; selfish; short-sighted; and/or stupid. Ford may boost their bottom line for this year, but long-term, this is a losing strategy.

Toyota became the #1 auto maker in the world by selling reliable vehicles at a reasonable price. Not by being hyper-focused on the current quarter's numbers and coming up with ways to defraud their customers.

Most people understand that the market dictates price. So while MSRP is traditionally a sucker's price, in this market it's reasonable. What's NOT expected or acceptable is to have PARTS MISSING from a brand new vehicle, and then to have the dealer and/or Ford say (essentially) 'tough shit':

* "Well, that part is not listed on the sticker..." (neither are 10,000 other parts)
* "Oh, did we forget to tell you? That part was quietly discontinued...buh-bye"
* "That part is only available in the (non-existent) "most excellent, rad, epic, Xtreme package..."
* "Due to supply line issues that part was not installed. (OK then, install it later or issue a refund)

Of course Ford and their dealers are in business to make a profit, but they should act ethically and treat people right -- not lie to them and jerk them around, especially after they have spent ~$40,000!

It should go without saying that if a mfr cannot provide something a customer has paid for, they should refund their money -- as Mazda does. It's easy to get wrapped up in the mindset that "a few hundred dollars is "not much" when you're buying a $40,000 car..." My position is that it's still a few hundred dollars!

BTW -- how did you get the engine cover?
