New Bronco Sport 4 weeks in... turned on the windshield wipers to clean the window, but they wiped before any liquid came out. Worried about scratching. Yes, I held in the arm all the way 1st.

If it’s the first time you’ve used the spray the line was empty. If it continues to happen there may be a leak in the system. It may not happen again now that the system is primed.

Make sure you have fluid in the reservoir. If it’s a long delay scratching could occur eventually. You should have a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. Let the dealer take a look.

I’m trying to remember, it seems like my cars do the same thing sometimes. Never worried about it…. Gotta pay more attention.

Thank you. I'll try it again tomorrow, but throw some water on it first. It was definitely the 1st. time I used it, and it's brand new.

I no longer have my BS, but I experience that on my full-sized Bronco as well. There are numerous reports on the Bronco6G forum that the washer fluid arrives late in the cycle. It appears that a vacuum develops in the system, much like the awful modern gas cans with no vent. Some have reported that drilling a very small hole (perhaps 1/8") in the reservoir lid eliminates the problem. I'd say it's worth trying, because it's easily reversible.

Does anybody know if the rear window wiper has a washer?

School was over 40 years ago. It's probably on its way.
That many years, it's no longer a squirt. More of a dribble. Trust me.
