In the past I have always changed out driveline fluids with the vehicle up on 4 identical ramps, on a level concrete/asphalt pad/driveway. I have never had an issue doing the service this way.
Do any of y'all place the vehicle's body level instead? Like using jack stands or up on a lift?

Is this gonna open up a big ol' can-a-worms like when one asks which is the best motor oil? HeHe

I use a lift and if I am going to be doing a level check, I shim my lift arms so the car is level once lifted.

I think you might be overthinking it. On boats in the water, they pump the oil out from the dipstick tube. I started doing that in my garage, because opening the drain would shoot oil out over a foot. Being 3 or 4 feet off the ground, it was hard to get the oil pan in just the right spot, and even if you did, it spashed. Once I get all I can get from the dipstick tube, I open the drain. A significant amount of oil comes out.

Bottom line, you never get it all out from the dipstick. We've been doing this on our timeshare houseboat for 24 years with no problems.
