Hello Guys,
I know that Diesel is reserved to trucks in North America (as well as in Russia and in Iran), but.... as I am sure Ford engineers are not stupid, the Bronco Sport deserves one or two diesel options for Europe (as every other comparable car in that SUV segment, even if not engineered in Germany, say Jeep Compass, LR Discovery Sport, etc) Let's say a plain 2.0 4 cylinders, in two power levels, maybe one about 160/170hp, the other about 220/240hp, maybe both as mild hybrid.
Does anyone know more? I really like the "baby" Bronco, I am considering to buy a Ford car for the first time in my life. Except for my first car (a venerable Fiat Panda MJ 1990), every car I owned was a diesel. I had a VW Golf 4 Diesel, a VW Golf 5 Diesel, a Mazda 5 Diesel, currently a Volvo XC60 awd diesel and a VW Multivan awd diesel. Am I obsessed? No, just a typical Eu driver. Diesel gives better fuel economy, better torque at lower rpm, more safety in case of crash, and is actually cleaner. And, no, nobody cares about the Diesel scandal(s) here, everything is over, as Covid19 is over here :), at least North of the Alps. Even Volvo is reconsidering its new engine strategy for the upcoming XC90iii, meaning it WILL get indeed some diesel options (maybe even a 5- or 6-cyl., that would be a dream).

IF the bronco Sport goes to Australia, South America and Europe I BET it will have a Diesel option.
Likely the 2.0/2.2 duratorque ~120hp 210lbft. Pretty much every other ford has an option for one.
