I’m ready for an adventure into Red River and the mountains we almost drove off of in an Explorer back in 2020, but I can’t drive it until I move several states over to nothing but beaches and sand. Whatever will I do with my wet n wild donuts?!I have the tamed the speed bumps of my local shopping mall, survived the harsh elements of the touchless carwash, and did a long distance endurance run to the indian casino. I am almost up to the task of actually having a passenger in the second row, but I am concerned I didn't get the badlands 2.0 and my little 1.5 will just barely meet the pulling capacity with all the extra weight!
But yeah I really don’t want to touch any terrain that’s moderately difficult because I came from a very non-terrai. friendly vehicle into this one. My fiancé has no such reservations and will routinely go into the mountains and find the most random-ass trails and dirt roads to cliff faces and bonk right up em with no reservations. It was a jarring experience for my first 4x4 experience in a completely loaded Ranger with NO prior warning but it’s given me an itch I can’t fill any other way, and we didn’t want to wait on a full-sized bronco.
This is the road we had to turn around on in an Explorer with the first iteration of GOAT mode. We almost died, but damn it was fun! So yes, make fun of me all you want for not going out into the great beyond of off-reading, I’ll leave that to the more experienced drivers!
