I have the tamed the speed bumps of my local shopping mall, survived the harsh elements of the touchless carwash, and did a long distance endurance run to the indian casino. I am almost up to the task of actually having a passenger in the second row, but I am concerned I didn't get the badlands 2.0 and my little 1.5 will just barely meet the pulling capacity with all the extra weight!
I’m ready for an adventure into Red River and the mountains we almost drove off of in an Explorer back in 2020, but I can’t drive it until I move several states over to nothing but beaches and sand. Whatever will I do with my wet n wild donuts?!
But yeah I really don’t want to touch any terrain that’s moderately difficult because I came from a very non-terrai. friendly vehicle into this one. My fiancé has no such reservations and will routinely go into the mountains and find the most random-ass trails and dirt roads to cliff faces and bonk right up em with no reservations. It was a jarring experience for my first 4x4 experience in a completely loaded Ranger with NO prior warning but it’s given me an itch I can’t fill any other way, and we didn’t want to wait on a full-sized bronco.

Ford Bronco Sport Where have you been in your BS? 303D197D-4ECB-441F-8E77-4B11B12268A4

This is the road we had to turn around on in an Explorer with the first iteration of GOAT mode. We almost died, but damn it was fun! So yes, make fun of me all you want for not going out into the great beyond of off-reading, I’ll leave that to the more experienced drivers!

... 5 weeks today with the BS Badlands... 600+ miles... sadly just around town... Texas is mostly private land, so not a lot of places for offroading like Utah for instance. I'll be heading there in a few week to visit my son in Saratoga Springs. He has a Nissan Frontier 4X4 and just got an old Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X4. He is planning on taking me to some trails!

You should be able to get to the off-roadeo in Austin pretty easily.

I plan on taking my Big Bend up to Mackinaw Island just after the holiday, (at least it will take me to the ferry since there are no vehicles on the island).

Last night at Mount Wilson's star party. it is just above LA basin and full of light pollution. but we still get to see Adromeda galaxy and caught a nice long meteor. I'm not going to match @thekingprawn on astrophotography. Tho no real off-raading adventure here. The Mt Wilson observatory has a lot of history. established in 1904....this is where Hubble made of a lot of discoveries.

you still can see a faint Milkyway in the sky with a 25 seconds exposure.......couldn't help wonder if LA basin just turn off the lights (and maybe smog too) for 30 seconds for me to take a picture....
