I recently placed an order for a BS Cactus Gray BB w/ BB & Tow Package as well as roof crossbars, CMS, floor mats and splash guards. When I asked our salesman if they would need a deposit he said "not necessary". My wife is getting a BS also and she asked, "what if we change our mind?" He said, "no problem, we will just sell the vehicle."

I am seeing other members stating they paid as much as $1k deposit for ordering a new BS build.

What is everyone's experience with dealerships asking or not asking for deposits on build orders?

1K deposit for BS + BS in Portland Oregon, ordered Feb. 3rd. They claim its fully refundable and will deduct it from the price of the car at delivery.

I ordered a BS BB on 2/15. I asked if they needed a $500 deposit. Salesman said no deposit was needed. Of course, I just saw that they were just awarded Ford's President Award 10 years in a row.

Of course it’s the dealers choice how much they require for a deposit and if it’s refundable or not. The average seems to be $500 but it is odd they didn’t require one. Dealers see a deposit as a stronger form of commitment between you and the dealership. They must not be worried one bit if you choose not to move forward with it buying it! But some customers as don’t feel like like it’s reserved for THEM unless they give you a deposit which is understandable.

My dealership said no deposit was required. Said that it would sell immediately if I decided not to take it. Good enough for me!

We live in a really small southern Appalachian mountain town so maybe things are different here than bigger towns. Also, my wife is buying a new BS too so maybe that helped. I was just curious about other dealerships and areas.

Ordered OB/Ob in Jan. At first he said no deposit then when we were finalizing asked for $1000. Apparently (he said) if Ford auditors come around they would be in trouble with no deposit orders.

Haven't been asked for a deposit since I was 21yo.
I suppose if you order something really off the wall or they already have a lot full a dealer might be a bit nervous about it.

I’m sure that’s it! You have a relationship already established with them.
My dealer usually requires $500 to $2,000 depending on the make/model being ordered.

$500 deposit for BL+BL, Upgraded Wheels and tow pkge. They said it would go toward the vehicle upon delivery. Ordered through dealer on 2/20 in DFW, TX. Haven't gotten an order number or email confirmation yet, but they said it's because my order is one of the slots for dealer inventory.
