For storage in a vehicle get lithium batteries. They last 10 years and don't melt. A headlamp is much better than a flashlight. Except for self-defense.

Once I was driving in the middle of nowhere and got a flat tire. I pulled out the flashlight, which had been in the truck all summer, and the batteries had melted. Fortunately, I had changed the passenger tires on that truck so often (driving too fast on gravel roads) that I could do it in the dark.

When I'm going out of town, I usually have tire chains, Hi-lift jack, army shovel, axe, rope chain saw, water, small pulaski, ViAir compressor, battery jumper, and tools. Most of those things are left in the car all of the time.

If mild climate probably yes but I would not leave lithium batteries in a car in hot climate. Most products with lithium batteries do not have a storage temperature high enough to allow use inside hot vehicles.

I used some of my Ford Pass points and ordered the Road Side kit. I like the Bronco logo bag it comes in. ?

I keep a 1.5 ton low profile floor jack in the spare tire well. (I keep the donut so I can fit this). I ordered another used BB 17" wheel and I plan on mounting a Falken 235 on this as a spare. I guess I'll have to decide to take this out and move the full size in. But man, I hate OEM jacks.

Good lord! Soon, a person will need to buy an enclosed trailer to haul all the stuff they think is needed to take a trip.

For self defense, I have a large LED flashlight that has some heft and sharp corners and strobe effects. I live in the US which is chock full of lawyers just waiting to sue you for having a gun, tazer or knife in your car. So a flashlight is a good alternative if you don't want to get arrested for trying to be prepared.

I just don't visit states that restrict my 2A rights. A flashlight is not much of a defensive weapon. At least get yourself a can of bear spay or even wasp spray. If I'm going to be up in the mountains for a week or a month I carry a legal short-barrelled AR with a 30-round mag in the floor behind the passenger seat. It will also fit in a day pack. I legally conceal carry every day every where I go except prohibited places. I look at firearms as an insurance policy on my most precious assets-- the lives and safety of my family and myself.

I also carry a small tool kit, jumper cables and a jump box, recovery and first aid daily. If I'm going on a trip I throw a duffels with an air compressor, compass, saw, propane lighter, candles, a poncho etc.

Don't bring a flashlight to a gunfight.
I've been a Concealed Carry Instructor for nearly 15 years and none of my students have been arrested.

You can move to Florida. Our governor in his intelligent (?) thinking has now made it legal to carry a gun without a concealed weapon license.

I keep it very simple. I have a flashlight in the center console, and 2 small umbrellas in my front door pockets. Other than that, I only need a cellphone and my AAA card.
