WeatherTech rock and bug guard, under hood edge mount

I ordered and installed the WeatherTech “stone and bug deflector” part number 50290. It does not attach to the face of the hood with tape. I did not like the idea of taping something to the hood…. It will hold moisture at times, and will be a pain to remove.

This model uses existing holes for the hood gasket to mount under the hood and float off the surface of the hood. Quick and easy install.

Following. Got my first rock chip in the windshield recently plus I'm tired of all the bug splatter so I'm definitely interested in this especially since it bolts to the hood.

I’ve had a few of these over the years, never get the stick on kind.
They help with bugs on the windshield to varying degrees but you have to be at highway speeds for that tiny uplifting wing angle to work.
My black BS has three small rock chips on the hood but only one is down near the leading edge.
This deflector like the ones I’ve had before are nice and help but if I had had one on I’d still have gotten the other two rock chips.
They are worth the money if you spend even a quarter of your time above 50 mph.
Looking cool ? That’s up to the individual.
Gas mileage hit, probably not on our Bronco Sport bricks as we absolutely do NOT have a low drag coefficient at all.
On a car with a low drag coefficient like my Mustang, a half mpg penalty at high speeds, but only noticeable because that car lived its life on the interstate.
But under the stated conditions the thing successfully saved my Mustang from hood chips, never had one.

Just ordered mine. Gonna give it a try. I saw the Weather Tech one gave some folks issues with getting the hood to latch. Hope this one isn't as tricky.

I ordered this, followed the instructions perfectly, but could not get the hood to close. I wound up ordering one directly from Ford and had them install it for me.

It's supposed to. I've had mine on for three months. I have seen bugs fly in the updraft. Don't know yet about pebbles. So far, so good.

I like these that attaches with screws/bolts underside of hood as well. I had something like this many years ago.

is the hood not close right mainly due to all these adjustable hood closing stoppers??

Ultimately, the part that mounted underneath needs to be a little bit smaller/thinner than this gap.

Love to hear from everyone's experience installing this type of deflector

@Wolf256 My AVS Bugflector came in the mail today. I'm impressed. Nice, sturdy plastic and I like that it follows the hood line with a low profile. Some of the higher deflectors look like a weird unibrow on the vehicle to me and this one doesn't give off that vibe at all. Not going to mount it on the Big Bend since my Badlands will ship any day now, but I'll upload photos when I do.
