Here’s another one. Lost all my heat in my Bronco Sport 1.5 L on January 10. Already knew enough from this forum to suspect the water pump. Sure enough the reservoir was empty. Had it towed to the Ford dealership the next day. Guess what, pump is on back order from the supplier. Supposed to ship February 3rd!!!! Immediately asked them to arrange a loaner. Now on my second loaner, latest update (that I had to call to get) was that supplier is supposed to ship 84 of them to Ford on February 15, and hopefully mine is one of them. Planning to ask them to extend the duration of my warranty, since they’ve had the car for more than a month already.

I forgot to mention that it was only driven less than 7500 miles over 8 months.

Update: the replacement pump (the "redesigned" one ending in B) is now also failing. It started losing coolant 5 months after it was replaced. I just took it in for service last week. They initially told me that there's "nothing to fix as they pressure tested it and it passed". I told them that I would not come pick it up unless they could explain to me where the 60 ounces(!!!) of coolant that I have added to keep it topped of since August have gone. They then decided to add dye to the reservoir, and a few days later called to tell me that it was the water pump (again), and they didn't find it with the pressure test because it was "a small leak, possibly temperature related". Second replacement pump is on order with no ETA for when it will arrive. this second pump started leaking with less than 10,000 miles of it. Also, no loaner available, so they gave it back to me to "drive and keep an eye on the level" until the pump comes in.

Ours leaked at 8500 miles. dealer replaced it in one day (had them in stock), even got a loaner for that one day. Now at 10,500, still good.

I know it's little comfort for you, but this is evidence that there is no such thing as a perfect production system. A certain percentage of parts that come from the production line of all mass-produced mechanical devices will be defective.

Also, no loaner available, so they gave it back to me to "drive and keep an eye on the level" until the pump comes in.
I get that you'd like a loaner for convenience, but almost no dealerships are offering loaners these days. You have a good idea of the leak rate for your pump, and as long as you keep the reservoir topped off there is little chance of harm to your engine.

Hello! Please send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, and I can assist with your concerns on my end.

It's up to you on how you want to handle it, but Michigan's lemon law is that the vehicle is sent for repair for four or more times within the first time of the attempted repair OR out for repair 30 days or more during the warranty term, or 30 days or more within one year from the date of the delivery to the original problem. The second criteria of 30 days or more in repair out-of-service (either within warranty or within one year of delivery to buyer comes first) is satisfied by the duration of your original water pump repair.

However, Michigan's Lemon law requires you send the manufacturer written notice that the vehicle needs to be fixed and offer them a final chance to fix the vehicle. Said notice must be via return receipt.

I would contact the Ford rep in this thread via DM about your situation...

...but in your shoes, I would also follow the Michigan lemon law policy at least in terms of sending initial notice. A return receipt certified first class would be $7 and change nowadays as a way to preserve your consumer rights. It requires that an auto manufacturer respond as soon as reasonably possible and that a repair facility repair the vehicle within 5 days of the last attempt. Failing that - the manufacturer has to provide a comparable replacement vehicle or a refund at your choice. Even if the manufacturer offers a replacement vehicle, you could choose to take that, or a refund on the purchase/lease.

Even if you felt comfortable with a repair, the lemon law would put Ford and the dealer "on the clock" to repair your vehicle as quickly as possible.

Best of luck.

New member here from California. I'm in the same situation. Ford replaced my water pump in July during service. At that point I wasn't aware it was defective. However, now, only a couple of months later, the new pump is leaking badly. I added almost half a gallon of coolant on Saturday after the engine overheated. 3 days later the reservoir is below the min. Also, I don't know if it's related but the heating system no longer works.
