2021 Bronco Sport Big Bend. 20,350 miles.

Had no heat on and off. Called dealer to have it checked out. They didn’t have appointment for 2 weeks (!!!). Was driving down the highway, and all kids of lights start flashing, extreme high temp etc. Pulled into parking lot, there was NO coolant at all. Managed to find some and limp home.

Brought the car into dealer on 11/15, failed water pump. They still have the car and say the water pump is not available until “late December.” They are telling me they are redesigning the part. Is that true or BS? Also, I had to fight for three weeks to even get a loaner. The dealer said this is a common problem.

I guess I’m just asking is there anything I can do but wait, and to add my gripe to the list of these comments I see here piling up.

Welcome to the bend over and take it from Ford club. Same issue here. 36,000 miles plus. (Reported issue prior to 36k) Keep an eye on it is what my worthless dealer says. Wouldn’t even offer the gallon of coolant. 3 weeks just for them to look at it to tell me late December maybe. Oh, have I mentioned, my last Ford.

It is what it is. I blame corporate for their overall lack of customer concerns and distancing themselves by saying all of our dealers are independent. They all have your corporate name on all their friggin buildings.

Sorry that you're having issues. While I wouldn't say that bad water pumps are a common issue (I interpret that to mean frequent), a few folks here on the forum have had problems with them. It's probably more accurate to say they're not uncommon.

It's impossible to say whether your dealership is lying or not about a pump redesign. We DO know that the folks who've had problems with water pumps experienced (and are experiencing) significant wait times to get replacements. One member (since banned for unknown reasons) already had his pump replaced, so either he got an old design, or his issue occurred before Ford decided on a redesign.

Loaner cars have been a problem since the used car market went bonkers. Now that things seems to be settling down a bit I predict dealerships will have more cars available for service customer use.

Mine went put at 32k, 24 Oct and got it back 9 Dec AFTER I got a different dealer to get me the part. My dealer was a joke... advice is call around to see if you can find the part yourself. My understanding is they are on backorder through 21 Dec.

Good luck, I'm also done with Ford. No loaner or rental reimbursement for the 6 weeks I was out of a car. The lies told were unbelievable.

My son's Bronco Sport with 18,000 miles had the same problem in October where the heater stopped working and then the car overheated. And yes, it was the dreaded water pump failure. After his car had sat at the dealer for 6 weeks waiting on a new water pump with no concrete time on when the part may come in, I reached out to Ford directly and was able to get the pump expedited. It arrived at the dealer within a week of reaching out to them. The dealer even said they did not know what we did, but it was highly effective in getting the part. He got his vehicle back last week finally. Nobody can give an explanation on what is going on with these water pumps and why they are so hard to get. Even if they were redesigning them, they would not be making people wait months and would provide the prior pump. It seems they have been on tight supply for over a year now. It also seems we are hearing more and more about the water pump failures, so it will be interesting to see what ultimately happens down the road. I know this pump is also used on other Ford vehicles like the Escape. Based on the model number he got, it has not been redesigned yet.

You're all pointing your blame in the wrong place.

This. That's the thing with these dealers. Some are great and some are complete garbage. Doesn't matter the manufacturer. Part availability is out of their control.
