I've been averaging 30mpg driving my BS Big Bend. Started noticing a drop to 29mpg over the last few weeks now that I'm using AC all the time. I saw a big drop to 27mpg driving through the mountains last week. But hey, this is a lot better than my Mercury Mountaineer that was getting 18mpg. Gas prices were ranging between 4.19 and 4.49 from coastal SC over to Memphis, TN last week. Prices definitely going up this week. $63 to fill up the tank yesterday morning at 4.22; same gas station was at 4.39 last night. And the music never stops.....

I'm still bummed out that Ford Motor Company didn't bring the Bronco Sport on line with a hybrid engine to begin with!!! That would have been a sweet option, and and even bigger marketing tool for Ford.

Edit: just a thought, don’t ask for opinions if you are going to get sardonic pissy about someone disagreeing with you.
THIS...on many levels on many posts. When you pose a question to a diverse group expecting nodding bobblehead approval...sometimes you get a different response.

All you guys and your $5.00 gas. Out here in California we are averaging $6.19 for regular. I don't notice because my commute is all of 9 miles one way and barely get to go freeway speeds. What is interesting is public transit ridership is up over 20% in the last month, due to gas prices.

I am a transit planner and the last time gas prices were high in the early 'teens ridership also went up. Go figure.
SARCASTICALLY speaking...that's a you problem living in califlakia...follow the exodus from idiocy. Unreal the insane price differences. I like to visit, could never live there.

There is a handy little tool on this forum that allows you to ignore content from particular users. If you find that a user generally has things to say that you don't want to read, then I suggest you use it.

With gas prices going bonkers, I am getting nervous about getting a vehicle that gets only 30/25 mpg. We ordered a BS Oct.28 when gas was somewhat ā€˜normal’ and planned on trading in my 2009 Prius. Now, if we ever get a BSB (possibly built next week), I am thinking I will keep the Prius for now. The BSB will be for fun only…not driven everyday. My Prius has 230,000 miles and is still going strong..and still gets 50 mpg minimum. I am still running the original battery! Anyone else getting nervous?
I'm keeping my 19-year-old Toyota around, it gets about 32 MPG. Not worth selling or trading it, considering not even Toyota makes cars that reliable and b.s.-free these days.

That being said, I'd argue the Bronco Sport, regardless of trim, shouldn't be considered if fuel economy is a buyer's number one priority. My Big Bend got respectable mileage (~28 MPG combined) but I didn't have a lengthy commute and stuck to back roads and interstates; in stop-and-go city traffic, fuel economy dipped to ~23 MPG.

If a dealer around me had a loaded hybrid Mav, I'd probably give up my Badlands order. The Mav has great fuel economy and I find myself needing a small truck bed more and more lately.

I have been there (selling Honda Insight hybrid.)

Thoughts..
  • My Honda dealer offered me $3000. I laughed.
  • Three non Honda dealers offered me $500 (for parts)
    • Battery is huge issue
  • My wife says "oh the Wilsons next door need a car for their kid.."
    • Nope. I couldn't live with myself if I sold it to someone I knew and the $3000 battery died a week later.
I drove as fast as possible back to that Honda dealer and took $3000.

Your catalytic converter is worth more than the car.

In California rules are different of course in regards to sales of used electric vehicles.

3k is way more than my Prius is worth. You are fortunate to get that! Am going to hang onto it…it has new tires! My electric battery will probably fail…..

Our current vehicle is a 2019 Ford Escape Titanium AWD. It has the same engine (2.0 Ecoboost) as the BS Badlands we are waiting for.

The Escape averages 23mpg. We expect the BS to get the same, hopefully a little better (maybe 24!).

It’s certainly more expensive to fill the tank now. Thankfully, it’s not really a problem financially right now, but it is annoying and everyone has a limit.

I remember when it cost about $27 to fill up. It was $63 yesterday.
The 2018 escape titanium I have gets 31.5mpg but I have over 75000 on it sometimes I get 38 on long drives but it could be the way I drive

I get a solid 29-30 mpg by always using eco mode and driving within 6-7 miles of the speed limit on highway (which kills me and my lead foot). And I also fill up when my tank reaches the half-way point. Yeah, I spend the same amount on gas over the course of a month, but the sticker shock is less at each fill up. (BS base model)
