Many people are using phones that may have lint in the Lightning or USB-C ports. This will create a connection issue.

Try using a wood toothpick to check for lint.

You say you are running the latest build of Sync 3.4

What build number are you running?
I am having the same issue but I am using an Ottocast wireless adapter and it works fine about 85% of the time. It displays a red image which changes to blue once it interfaces with the Sync 3.4. When it does not work, it is still red. I believe that it is an issue with sync 3.4 not scanning USB ports properly. My Ottocast is plugged into the USB-C port

I'm having the same issues plus I have skipping during music play at random times. I even took it in to Ford....they couldn't replicate. As soon as I personally showed the tech did he witness the issue. So I will have to book it back in.....
