2021 Sport Badlands. I use a USB drive for my music 95% of the time. When I shut the sport off, that is the last device used.

Upon startup, the screen shows "searching for USB device. Next popup is "unable to detect the USB device" and it will connect to AM or FM or Sirius which has expired.

My question is, shouldn't it connect to the last media used on the next startup?

It has connected once in a while, but 99% of the time it will not. If I shut down with AM or FM being used, it will connect to either of those on the next startup.

Any suggestions or anyone else having the same issue.

This has been a thorn for a lot of SYNC 3 users for a long time (7+ years?). It does this even if you use Android Auto. I don't understand it; there seems to be no logic to it. The only way I've found to avoid having the radio turn on if I don't connect to Android Auto is to turn off audio from the SYNC interface BEFORE connecting the USB cable. That probably won't help you since you'll have to turn it back on to listen to your USB device. My only advice is to turn off the audio before shutting down the car. At least it won't start blaring the radio as soon as you start up next time.

It usually takes a few minutes to scan the usb device before it connects. Then you have to select it again. It's annoying for sure.

I'm using a high speed usb device type C, same thing.

It is annoying. It only takes about 20 seconds before the popup appears. The USB drive is connected but it can't find it upon start up? WTF

Have you tried a system reset or master reset? SYNC reset procedure is in the owner's manual.

We're using the Motorola MA 1 wireless dongle in both our vehicles. Been great so far. Comes up very quickly.

Using VLC to get the music file from our phones.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Bronco concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

Same here, did you try the master reset? I took my car to the dealer ship and all they did was change the preset! I've only had the car since August but thinking about trading it in already for this reason

Yes an annoyance for sure. First change your last channel to a preset you actually don't mind listening to. But more importantly make certain you are running the latest Sync 3 release!!! My stereo now starts on my USB stick of music about 80% of the time.

It just decides to start either USB, radio, rather than what I had set when I shut down.

Must depend on the weather, clouds in the sky, sunshine or cloudy or what mood I'm in.

I get it, but suggest you have the latest software as it seems to happen a lot less.

I do have the latest and was hoping that update would help but it made no difference. I've tried different USB sticks, formatted each way, still has a mind of it's own.

Very frustrating. Never had issues with my other Escapes, my since traded Audi Q3, or my wife's current MB GLC.

You say you are running the latest build of Sync 3.4

What build number are you running?
