Ford won't upgrade non nav units to nav units. You would need different hardware. You would have to buy the navigation APIM that's listed on the site someone else posted the link too.

I honestly never use the factory navigation. I always use Apple CarPlay. Those maps are way more up to date than any factory navigation.
Oh they will do it. I was just told it would be expensive
My mistake I thought you are saying you had factory navigation , but I see that you don’t . You can definitely add it at a cost ,best that you allow your dealer to perform that for you . If you go to the ford site for updates you will find the cost of updates for each model and year .
Oh I only let my dealership work on mine. My husband takes care of all our Ford's but even he said this one needs to go to the dealer for everything. They even installed my nudge bar..lol

I use android and mine will disconnect randomly and I have to unplug my phone and plug it back in which isn't convenient while driving.
This is a symptom of a worn cable. Get a new cable and your problem should be solved.

Already done that, does it with the new one also. I went through all the normal things.
I had this problem with three different Ford vehicles equipped with Sync. All three were fixed with a different cable. I had to try several different cables in two of the cars before I found one that worked. Keep trying.

I promise you it's not the cable. Thanks for suggesting it though.

We just plug in my wife's phone & it works fine. For the amount of time we would use it we will do it that way.

I had similar issues but a nice phone mount took care of that problem. It's on solid and no wire movements that will disconnect it. I personally prefer not to have the Navi on the car when I can use Waze and Google Maps from my phone to the screen.

Another thing, if the BS is anything like the sync 3 in my ranger was, you cannot use the built in nav if you are using apple carplay. It always will default to what you have on your phone. So if you want to use the built in nav, you have to disconnect your phone so carplay isn't active. I don't know if this applies to andrioid auto too.

I had similar issues with my Ranger. It was infuriating and random. I ended up replacing the USB port module and that solved all my issues. I didn't go through ford because it was intermittent and the $50 I paid for the usb module was a small price to pay to avoid the hassle.

I've been through several cords as well. If you read reviews you will see that there are definitely some that are better than others. I just ordered a Motorola MA1 which will make android auto wireless. Finally no cords will be needed!

For what it's worth, I have the built in navigation and much prefer my android auto.

Not sure if this is true on the BS or not, but this was incredibly annoying to me in the explorer as I don’t use it, just wanted to plug in my phone to charge. So at first I just used the back seat USB with a long enough cable to reach the front since it’s just power only, not data. Then I found, there’s an option to disable CarPlay as well in the vehicle settings somewhere.

I only use android auto because I have to for the Navigation if it wasn't for that I would use it at all.

We have a car with built in Nav and I like it better. I've never bothered with Android auto until I got my BS. Not a fan.

Yes, it does. The only advantage the built-in nav system provides is off-line capability. You don't need a data connection on your phone for the built-in nav system. You can remedy this when using Android Auto/Apple Car Play by downloading off-line maps to your phone, but you need to do that before you get someplace where you cell data service is bad.

The factory navigation after 36 month, requires a monthly payment . In my opinion not worth it when we have for free google maps that is flawless 99 % of the time . I have had factory nav in my Lincoln cars over the last several cars and still only used my i phone google maps

Can you provide a link to where Ford says that?
