I'm going to ask my service manager next oil change but has anyone else upgraded their nav system? I can only use Nav if I plug in my phone and would really rather not have to do that. I was wondering if it's just a simple software upgrade or is it more involved than that?

I might be wrong, but I believe it only came with the co-pilot 360. There are wireless adapters you can use.

Can you be more clear? When you plug in your phone are you using Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are you using the navigation system built-in to Sync? The factory navigation system does not require a phone to function. If your system has the factory navigation system you will see a button on the bottom of your screen labeled "Nav." If you don't see that button then your system doesn't have built-in navigation capability. The factory navigation system requires different hardware than non-nav systems, so it's not just a software upgrade.

I know I don't have built in Navigation, I'm wondering what would have to be done to get it. Just trying to see if anyone else has done it before I ask my service manager about having it done.

The factory navigation after 36 month, requires a monthly payment . In my opinion not worth it when we have for free google maps that is flawless 99 % of the time . I have had factory nav in my Lincoln cars over the last several cars and still only used my i phone google maps

If you check on your navigation system it will show not up to date . Last time I received a update notice the cost was 395.00 .That has been my experience with factory navigation.

I don't, I just know his hasn't cost us and it's definitely up to date cause there are new roads on it. His car is our first one with built in Navigation

My 2016 fusion ran on the Ford nav system... It had an sd card in the center console that the dealer updated when I brought in for service.

Regarding your other post, there is no monthly navigation program with Ford. The first navigation update is complimentary. I'm not sure how much they are after that. Factory navigation will always be out of date. By the time the update comes out, it will already be a year plus behind. You can enter your vin here and see if you have a complimentary update:

https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home

I tried it with my BS vin and I have one. I just haven't done it yet because I'm not sure which version they are offering. I have NA 2.20 in my BS and that's the latest navigation version that I'm aware of.

EDIT: According to the sync navigation upgrade site, 2.20 is the latest so I'm not sure why they are telling me there is an update for mine.

Ford won't upgrade non nav units to nav units. You would need different hardware. You would have to buy the navigation APIM that's listed on the site someone else posted the link too.

I honestly never use the factory navigation. I always use Apple CarPlay. Those maps are way more up to date than any factory navigation.

I use android and mine will disconnect randomly and I have to unplug my phone and plug it back in which isn't convenient while driving, I love my husband's built in Nav in his Mustang. I guess it just a preference.

My mistake I thought you are saying you had factory navigation , but I see that you don’t . You can definitely add it at a cost ,best that you allow your dealer to perform that for you . If you go to the ford site for updates you will find the cost of updates for each model and year .
