My wife took went to the local dealership earlier to have the recall done. When the tech pulled the Badlands out of the shop, he noticed a warning on the dash: "Transmission Not In Park." My wife told him that she sees that warning every time she is going under 5 mph (she hadn't mentioned it to me previously). She just hits "OK" and that clears it.

She said the tech was very interested in it, and wants her to bring it back before our warranty times out in March. Apparently he's never seen this issue before. Initially, he was afraid the recall recalibration had caused it. He took it for a test drive and said saw the same thing she reported -- the warning was there and then disappeared above 5 mph.

Has anyone had this warning appear, while moving under 5 mph?

Since the tech has never seen it, and i found nothing in a forum search, it may be a long shot but it would be great to get a solution.

You get that warning if a door opens when the vehicle isn't in park. I've never tried it by opening a door and going faster to see if goes away. I wonder if your solution is as simple as a faulty door sensor and not some deep software issue. GLWR.

Thanks Tim!

We do get the warning when, as you said, a door opens when the vehicle isn't in park.

The faulty door sensor is a good suggestion, but I'm thinking that if that was the cause then the warning would likely remain on regardless of speed.

Hey there. Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the dealer you have been working with? I would like to look into this error message on my end.

I'm giving this one a bump to try and get more suggestions.

My wife has an appointment at the dealership in a few weeks, but if possible, I like to fix the problem before then.

I found the following in the owner's manual:

Page 121: "...this message is typical after...recharging the battery..."

Ford Bronco Sport "Transmission Not In Park." Warning on dash below 5 mph 1724548043454-h6

I was hoping that "recharging the battery" might include using a Battery Tender.

Page 294: Battery Sensor Reset.

Ford Bronco Sport "Transmission Not In Park." Warning on dash below 5 mph 1724548221803-oc

We did not see the battery warning lamp illuminate at all. Instead, we saw the following message:

"Full Accessory Power Available." (or similar).

Unfortunately, that procedure did not correct the problem.

What did the dealership tell you after you took it in?
