My previous (2019) F-150 started doing this after a wicked rain storm. The bed filled with water and when I took offthe next morning the connector was soaked. Unfortunately, even after 2 weeks, every time I started the truck I got that warning basically non stop. I'd clear it and it would come right back. Thankfully, my lease on that one was up and I turned it in. Which reminds me I should check PTS and see if the dealer fixed it before it went to auction...

My assumption was somehow water got in the connector, even though I packed it with dielectric grease after the last time we towed with it.

Please let us know what the outcome is.

Thanks!

Good! So I'm not alone on this. Have you done anything about it or are you just tolerating it? It wouldn't be as annoying if just one press of the "OK" button cleared it but it keeps coming back like a psychotic ex. when it acts up.
I looked at the trailer plug to see if the pins were wet and I can't tell if there is a water intrusion problem. I'm not sure if the trailer plug is the problem or if it's elsewhere. I have 80,000 miles on my Badlands and the problem only started a few months ago. I may have to put it on a lift so I can get underneath and look around.
