Not all check with yours.
My salesman told me it's either price protection OR X-plan at their dealership. So I suppose I'll forgo that MCA membership.

I’d look to see which one is better before making a decision unless you already have.

x-plan is invoice-0.4% + $275
So it sounds like it could be close if originally price MSRP. I’d have to look back to see what the difference was on mine as I paid 6% below invoice.

Well, it sounds like x plan is protected as well.

I read it, I’m still not entirely sure how that might work though. Mine shows invoiced May 18. Which is well after the price increases, so I’m thinking like the window sticker, invoice then would also be inflated. But maybe they can go back in time with that just as they can MSRP?

Tell your salesman he is wrong to go and look at up. I received both price protection and x-plan. And my X-plan was not something they knew about when I ordered. I figured the MCA loophole right about a month after ordering. Like a day after I got my build date confirmed.v

It’s based on the invoice price at the time of ordering, not when it was “invoiced”. I knew my invoice price when I ordered.

Ah ok thanks. Upon submitting the order they told me they didn’t yet have the invoice, but estimated some numbers for me. Honestly I don’t expect issues, but good to know that the invoice comes at time of order & not when the date shows.

So when I first saw people posting about x-plan I thought it was some kind of financing thing and ignored it, but now that my Badlands is in production and I got my window sticker I looked into it more. I ordered the last week in January and there have already been price increases so my winder sticker is already about $2500 over what I have on my order sheet. I sent them a note reminding them of price protection but should I ask for x plan pricing?

If I am able to get a PIN for x-plan, is it worth it? How does it work, does it apply to the original order?
If you ordered back in January that was before the price increase, so going x-plan is only going to reduce it from the new price.. which might just offset the price increase and you're back to where you are now. I'd just keep what you have, you have price protection on the pre-increase price so you're not going to get a better deal at this point.

The Ford AZXD plans are included in price protection per Ford. Now whether the dealer is willing to agree to it is all another matter.

Right but he already has an agreement in place. Switching to the x-plan later they're going to "redo" the price calculation based off the x-plan price. Highly doubt they'd do the calculation based off the old price and not the post-increase price. So if x-plan is saving you an average of $1900 then the BS price increase a couple months ago would be higher than the savings, meaning the new "x-plan price" for a BS would be higher than the original price for the BS.

I had a friend deal with a similar situation last month, I was talking about the cargo management system and how it was substantially more expensive to add on later since it requires swapping out more components than just throwing a shelf in. He hit up the dealer asking about adding it to his build since it wasn't in production yet. Adding it would have redone his purchase agreement, and post-increase of BS price would have meant adding on that additional MSRP increase just to add the shelf. Anything that changes the dollar amount (including discounts) is going to cause the price increase to trip.

You're missing a couple of conditionals in that, "may be eligible..." may decrease price or write a check... Dealers can just say no and sell it at the new retail MSRP or x-plan based on the new MSRP. Hopefully they'll be cool, but it's not automatic like retail and fleet, and it's not required by Ford.

Yes I’m rather curious to see how this might all play out with my dealer now. I need the price protection more than the x plan as I think he was giving me a decent deal with something off MSRP anyways. So at this point, if I have to pay MSRP based on last November’s pricing, I’m farther ahead than X plan on current pricing.

Obviously the best for me as a customer is X plan based on the old invoice price at time of order. If my dealer actually honors that though I might be a little surprised. We shall see.

This is all just another facet on the broken gem that is the dealer system. Dealers are pushing back on Farley's proposed innovations. They have some power because Ford doesn't have the infrastructure to deliver even EVs directly to customers, so Ford needs the dealers But, the world is changing and dealerships will have to get on board eventually. They have some time on the side since people don't buy a new car every day and often have short memories.
Of course all this is speculation on my part. The last time I bought a car was 5 years ago, and the process was relatively benign. When my BS comes in (hopefully next week) I may be singing a different tune if the process of the sale is better than the process of ordering.
