My 2024 big bend is great so far about 8000 miles.
Reason im posting today is I read these posts people make and we all pay so much for these new cars and we all get this we dont know what the problem is when taken to dealership. Not just ford. I have a beautiful 2020 kia soul 70,000 miles still smells new inside. I called 3 dealers today asked about transmission oil change and filters was told by one they dont change trans fluids they are sealed transmissions. I laughed hung up. Now it's a game. The other place wants 500.00 to change it. 3rd place told me it had a screw on filter I asked where cause I've never seen one. Just to find out there looking at the motor. I know some are hidden inside. Im sorry for going on, but if we must pay such high prices I want it fixed when it dont function like day I drove it off lot or give me a new one if u can't fix it and dont make me fight for it.

I do agree in general with what you say

On the other hand, when I call the dealership, I might be talking to a service scheduler: I don’t expect them to know a lot about the vehicle but at least they should be able to do things like schedule my vehicle for service, check if service is completed and tell me the cost for simple things like fluid changes however very often that person cannot answer questions about cost and refers me to a Service Advisor.

If I am talking to a Service Advisor, I have different expectations but I don’t expect they will always know off the top of their head specific details about a specific model, year and configuration - they would often need time to look that up. So you would need to give them time to look up info and get back to you.

A good service advisor will often confirm with a Tech before giving you an answer for cases in which the Service Advisor doesn’t know for sure.

So I think your expectations while seeming to be reasonable, probably are not in all cases. In addition, very often Service Advisors are juggling a number of things at once and my expectation in that case is to give them time and request they call me back after they have time to do some research.

I also have a '20 Soul (though only at 46K), and agree that the Kia dealer service depts in general are barely competent.

There's a number of videos on how to DIY. If you're not up to it, any independent ASE certified shop should be able to do it.

Also, it differs greatly if you're talking about a simple drain & refill, or a full flush. A proper flush requires specialized equipment and will definitely cost more. That's not a DIY for most of us.

DIY drain & fill:

Full flush:
