Great story, thanks!

That was an expensive car for that time -- $3,447.50. Although, an inflation calculator says that's $34,734 today (almost exactly 10x more).

They said it cost $35,000 to restore, but it's worth 2-10x that amount, so it was obviously well worth it.

I have a '67 Camaro in the garage, but it's nothing special. When stock it was the base model with the 250 c.i. 6 cylinder and GM's TWO (2) speed automatic. It has a 402 big block, Turbo 400 trans, and posi rear now -- but as everyone here knows, that only increases its value so much -- it'll never be a SS/RS/Z-28. More of a restomod. So IDK if it's worth restoring. Like the guy in the article, I'm OK with mechanical work, but a lot would have to be farmed out.

In any case, very cool that it is the first Mustang sold in the U.S., AND that she has kept it all these years (I've had my Camaro since I was 16 -- 47 years).

Very cool story, thanks for posting it. I have read the story about the pilot in Canada who purchased the first Mustang ever sold. I have a 1969 Mustang Coupe V-8 that is not any special model, so I do not mind modifying it. I am restomodding it & doing almost all the work myself. It has a modified 5.0L V-8, 5spd trans & trac loc rear. It sits on jack stands in my garage & I am in the process of making/installing new fuel lines.
