This really is too f…ing funny. A poster reports an anecdotal experience and people climb all over him for “statistics”. Give it a rest people. It’s an anecdotal experience!!! My BS battery has been whining via the app messages for 3 years. I actually like it because it turns off the auto stop/start “feature”. People need to lighten up.
Yeah, I get your point, and I wasn't going to say anything until I read this:

So, his opinion has more validity than us here.
Sorry, couldn't let that slide...

I believe it. I think that Ford has a battery management issue on the Sport, possibly restricted to the 1.5L (not sure if the program is different for the 2.0L). I check the state of charge on the battery basically daily and I have never seen such wild fluctuations on the state of charge. I drove the Sport around on Friday for the full day of activities, probably 65-70 miles all totaled. The state of charge upon return was 99%. The next morning it was at 36%. I chose to not drive all day on Saturday and Sunday afternoon when I checked it we were at 9% SOC. That is a significant amount of draw in the background.

The flipside is that it gets to single digits all the time and I have never had to jump it. But it doesn't surprise me that many have. I keep a NOCO boost in the car just in case.

My invoice indicates the battery part number is BAGM48H6760. I haven’t popped the hood to look at it.

Just my opinion take it for what's it's worth, but logic says the more use something the faster it will wear out. Batteries only have so many charge/discharge cycles in them and the auto start multiplies the the # of cycles by a lot if your in an area with a lot of controlled intersections. It doubles then if it actuates just once each trip you make. It's not just the starts but the battery is providing all the power while the engine is shutdown, add in the number of vehicles they shipped with flooded vice AGM batteries due to supply chain and it's no surprise you see battery issues. Ford could maybe have done a netter job with battery management.
The fact is that auto start is only there to meet a Government imposed Fuel Economy requirement not because it makes sense or improves anything else. If not for that requirement it wouldn't exist. It's an engineering solution to an imposed requirement and that solution has a price battery an starter life.
