Howdy y'all !!!
I have looked and looked (probably not searching correctly) but I can't find anything about issues with the seat belt retractor.
The hub-a-dub was riding shotgun yesterday and the seat belt would not give. You could pull it out and connect, but it would lock up immediately and not give. He unhooked it several times and let it retract completely back and then slowly pull and reconnect, but it will instantly lock up every time.
Any suggestions?
♫ - I haven't taken it (BS) in for the seat belt recall yet, and will address this if it's faulty, but want to make sure I've done my homework first.
Thanks in advance!!

… can't find anything about issues with the (passenger side) seat belt retractor.
I haven’t seen reports about the passenger side seat belt and my FordPass shows this for drivers side. Probably taking it in for service is a good step

LOL!!! I just found the answer!
It seems it's a safety feature for child/baby seats. Once you pull the seat belt fully out, it engages the lock feature to keep seats firmly put. Totally makes sense! But what's really funny is the hub-a-dub is a large man and always pulls the seat belt all the way out so he can hook it without much fuss. I'm petite whereas his 6' frame takes up more room.
Can't wait to tell him. LOL!!!!

Odd that it's in a front seat belt as that's not the recommended placement for child/baby seats.

I thought the same thing, but I tested the theory just now in the BS and it worked. I didn't have any problems with the belt, but then I don't pull it completely out to snap in.
And, if you think about it, there's many times I'll use the front passenger seatbelt to secure other things that don't need to move. Case in point:

I've encountered the same phenomenon in other cars as well, but not ever having ankle biters and their accoutrements in the car I would've never figured it out on my own. What makes it odder is there's no LATCH attachment point for the front seats, only in the rear.

Seems that it should be mechanically toggleable, similar to the rear door child safety locks.
