Has anyone reconfigured a hitch mounted bike rack to fit a spare in it? The Thule one looks pretty sturdy, just cringe at the price of the Rig’d or Wilco ones.

I've considered building one so that I could have two spares. In reality, when I go in the backcountry, I usually take either the trailer or the ATV cargo carrier, so I wouldn't have room anyway. I did like my Jeep Liberty with the tire mounted on the back. But, I have to admit, I like all of the room around the spare tire for storage (after removing the foam, and flipping the tire).

I’ve flipped the spare and store a good amount of gear under there as well. I’m looking to make a full size spare and have even more room. Probably just wait until I find an inexpensive Wilco or Rig’d one on marketplace

I saw a post in the facebook group and a guy had a rear tire mount for his BS. I went back now to look, but can't find the post. Not sure if he deleted it or what, but there is something out there that exists. Not sure if it was custom fabricated or not.
