Better than Ranchero, which should be reserved for a proper throwback model, utility coupe based on an existing model.

Being “that guy”, that article called “fathom” an archaic term. While it’s true that it’s very old, it’s still very much in regular use to this day. I despise know-it-all know-nothings.

One jazillion percent. I am a HUGE Ranchero fan, and they had pissed me off with that abomination.

The Ranchero, like it's Chevy sibling, the El Camino, was a Coupe-based, TWO-DOOR, small pickup bed car, originally based on Australian utes. Any reuse of the badge should respect that. The Escape (if it's revived) would be the most suitable basis for a new Ranchero given the current model lineup.

If anything, it's competing against the Maverick (another bad name choice) without offering any real compelling reason to own one. Probably the Blue Oval's response to the Slate.

Agreed. They should have just called it the Mach E and left the word Mustang out of it.

It sounds like an interesting vehicle. As they say the devil is in the details. I'm kind of surprised that after all the money Ford sunk into the Lightning F-150 and then abandoned it that they would go back to an electric truck.

Marginally more so than the Mustang II.

The Lightning was a bad idea in every respect. While the Fathom may not turn out as hoped, there’s a better argument for it than electrifying the F-150.
