My Valentine One radar detector has always had problems sticking to the windshield. Suction cups are trash, so I've tried gluing the suction cups to the windshield. It works for a while, but eventually gravity prevails. Nothing wants to stick to the suction cups once summer rolls around.

3M VHB tape has never let me down, though! So I 3D printed a mount that will allow me to toss the suction cups and use VHB instead. The black plastic is ASA and the nubs are TPU. The TPU makes engagement with the mount easier, provides some vibration damping, and allows angular adjustment.

We'll see if it survives the Texas summer! I'll have more pics of it installed this evening.
EDIT: Installed pics added.

A lot more expensive but also a lot more robust, BlendMount.

I'm not a fan of mirror mounts for the BS. The plastic surround for cameras and such already blocks a lot of windshield. Plus I have to have my toll pass sticker horizontally centered on my windshield, so the detector would have to hang pretty low to clear that.

Looks good. I can see how a mirror mount would not be preferred on the BS.

BTW, because of the load on the tape, this design might peel off relatively easily. If you extended the top of the bracket you made up toward the headliner, the tape would be under less load. Just something to consider if this particular design doesn’t hold up the way you want.

Side question, are the newer detectors more immune to the side mirror and rear collision radars? I’ve switched to using waze as opposed to having my detector going off all the time.

I'm not sure, my V1 is the first gen so it's hardly in the "newer" category. But I disabled X-band notifications and that seems to filter out the overwhelming majority of false alarms. In my experience, it appears cops have migrated to K- and Ka-band radar while consumer vehicle radar-assisted systems seem to predominantly use X-band.

They are,I run a uniden R7.It allows you to turn off frequencies such as K band, which is typically your blind side monitors etc.
