More delays just announced.

KEY POINTS
Ford is significantly cutting its North American vehicle production in July due to an ongoing shortage of semiconductor chips impacting the global automotive industry.

The automaker plans to idle or reduce production at eight plants, including six in the U.S., for varying periods of time into early August due to the problem.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/30/chip-shortage-causes-ford-to-cut-vehicle-production-at-several-plants.html

Ford Bronco Sport SUV and upcoming Ford Maverick small pickup: The Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico will run one of two shifts the weeks of July 12 and July 19.

I am expecting at least another two week delay notification any time. <SIGH>
In a statement Wednesday, Ford said the latest production cuts due to the chip shortage are being done to prioritize “customers’ vehicles that were assembled without certain parts due to the industry-wide semiconductor shortage.”

That's a bit of good news for those of us that have build's and missing a chip or 2. Maybe.......... ah, hell.......... who knows. :crying:

well I have to believe that's an accurate statement. I am sure dealers, BIG dealers are voicing frustrations from order customers bailing out. Granted yes they can create a new customer the second that car is released...but as many have said, they know that also alienates someone who's been waiting. Sell the products you DO have first...face it, they can't keep cars on lots, you better take care of those waiting.

We will have to wait to see. Will Bronco Sports sit in desert sun for weeks or months? One thing I do know is Bronco Sport is extremely important to Ford. Ford is well aware this is a 200,000 plus unit a year in sales. It will be huge money maker once supply chain issues are resolved...

I took a year off work and it was a blast. I was better off mentally and physically. I guess some people like working. Maybe they don't have interests or hobbies. There is a million of other things I'd rather be doing than being dirty and sweaty at the job.
As long as I'm not going to be paying for it for years to come, glad you had a good time. If you got unemployment you got more than I did on SS and had to work.

Oh you'll pay for it...starts with the price of gas, which increases the cost of shipping...which increases the cost of manufacturing, which inflates the price of all consumer goods. The rich won't be taxed they have shell games. The current admin loves the don't work crowd...easy to slip them their piece of cheese and keep em happy. The days of come to this country build something you can call your own is lost on the Xbox generation.

if you think any politician is going to tax the rich (aka themselves and those power brokers who put them there...) I have a bridge over the Hudson River I'd like to sell you :) my non-directive point...it isn't getting better the next four years...or the next 30 after that. But gas is the easiest way to tax the middle while posturing taxing the $400K and up crowd. I work for a guy who runs in the billionaire club. I get paid from different 'companies' for any given project. Each company stays just under the radar. Everyone on this board has heard of most of those companies, do business or retail with them...it's all shells...it moves the taxables around and it's legal evasion. You don't become a billionaire by accident. You remain a millionaire not understanding this concept.

When will the chip shortage end
A variety of analysts agree that the most problematic shortages will begin to ease in the third or fourth quarter of 2021, though it could take much of 2022 for the resulting chips to work their way through the supply chain to products. The supply relief will not be coming from the big, national investments in the works right now by South Korea, the United States, and Europe but from older chip fabs and foundries running processes far from the cutting edge and on comparatively small silicon wafers

At $39.5 billion, the auto industry makes up less than 9 percent of chip demand by revenue, according to market research firm IDC. That figure is set to increase by about 10 percent per year to 2025. However, the auto industry—which employs more than 10 million people globally— is something both consumers and politicians are acutely sensitive to, especially in the United States and Europe.

Bottom line, the cars use cheaper 200mm chips, but the companies prefer to make 300mm chips for bigger profits. Auto industry safety standards have a different demand...catching up on chips for automakers is complicated. Likewise these are the new toilet paper with companies double ordering putting further stress on the system out of panic buying.

Yes panic buying will keep lots empty for a while even if factories can produce deliver. Car shortage not going away any time soon.
