I did a search on "prepper", "survivalist" and "tactical", so as not to offend the Thread Police. What was returned was a sparse hodgepodge of posts that I found interesting. Some posts were by the same members on different topics, But there was no thread for sharing of ideas and topics that would be of interest to us folks.

Stuff like: What's in your First Aid Kit? How to install a GMRS; Mounting a Holster in the BS; Peoples choices on Emergency Kits and Storage... I'm hoping some of us that are like-minded will keep any eye on this thread and help each other out with either ideas, answers, or links to other posts, for any questions and suggestions related to these interests.

Mobile is best. Nothing I might need if the balloon goes up is attached to my Bronco Sport. I have two back pac bags. They mount to me and me alone.
I will fade into my forest.
Alone and on foot detached from the noise of men.
I’ll regroup with the Militia and become vengeance.
At my age I’m a cranky old guy with a long life behind me.
Ready and able to do what must be done.
No Fear.
I’m not some poser that’s all into cool toys and tricking out my ride with military gear, that are mostly useless without proper skills.
I’ve spent my money on training and skills.
They, them won’t see me coming or going.
WOLVERINES!!!!!
So,,
You got a cool first aid kit !
Do you know when and how to dress a wound, what about where and when you need to dig out a bullet ?
When to not waste your time and first aid on a soon to be dead man ?
You people better get it together.
Always looking for my Band of Brothers. :,P

Unfortunately, where I'm at it's a 4 hour drive to anything that could even be jokingly called, or described as a "forest". Just to get to what we call "the sticks" is a 1 to 2 hour excursion. So, When the balloon goes up, My family is forced to take a road trip. đźš™

thanks Osco
been waiting for a thread starter of the nature
appropriate for off road forums such as this
day before yesterday
evening early nightfall
normally run shortwave SDR squelched max as background
monitor the frequencies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Frequency_Global_Communications_System
EAM's were pouring quickly back to back
OSINT indicator says forces at play
not your normal "All Stations"
conflict abroad escalated
EAM's were the early notification somethings popping off
link for digital SW radio
http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901
handy site
easy to use when you get the knack of it
post more on this later
chickens going on the grill
friggin starved

Seriously... I have an RTL-SDR (RTL2832U) I run with a Raspberry PI. Haven't given it much thought before seeing your post... I can run the whole thing off USB power. Maybe I'll add it to my Comms Bag with the HTs and other radio stuff... Thanks!

here's a starter pic for SDR link posted above
name or call sign - not required, add donald duck if you like
frequency - click for cursor, type in 1008 & select AM
this will get you to a station while reading this link below
https://www.docdroid.net/u1joYEX/guide-to-using-websdr-v20161125-pdf
note tab labelled "Chatbox"
users discussions range wide but closely track current conflicts
EAM's broadcasted on
frequency 4724.00, 8992.00 or 11175.00
set mode to USB
normal pattern of station ID's and test counts
when the EAM's flare up that's a signal things are on the move

Well,

* HT with GMRS…. Thinking about my HAM license so no mobile yet. Don’t wanna do it more than once.
* 72 hr GoBagis always within reach at home.
* I mount my piece at about 11-12 o’clock on my belt (yeah yeah… it ain’t aimed anywhere. Full coverage injection molded holster)
* trauma pack always on my Molle
* off-road/onroad emergency kit

PLANNED:
* That mobile radio
* “get home” bag
* console safe (tired of the wired and keyed one)
* some kind of lockable storage for something a bit more than my 11-12 o’clock tool
* small repair kit
* dash cam

Im new to the whole game. So it takes time to build up.

You better get em out first because I bet your Bronco Sport is not bullet proof.
Hope you’ve got a Stronghold somewhere out there.
So many I need to pray for.

Fortunately, I don't have to spend a lot of money on training and skills. I got some of them for free.

nice Red Dawn reference :) fifteen years as a field medic...I feel like I have a good shot at well...managing those problems and avoiding their results. There's a fine line between common sense and insanity. Teetering that line is a good thing.
