I was wondering it the usb-c ports in the Bronco Sport Accessory try will power off when the ignition is off or are they active all the time ...which would lead to a battery drain. Using it to power a radar detector

I would assume it is the same as my 2022. Mine shuts off when the ignition is off. You should be able to easily test it with the device you plan on using with it.

Thank you. I plugged in the radar detector. Turned off the vehicle . Went in side but it was still on. I need to wait longer and check again. Thanks

All USB Ports and the 110V outlets turn off after a short time delay (ā€˜21-ā€˜24 models, I don’t know about 2025s)

The time delay is adjustable by using FORScan

Is this the same for 21-24 and 25 models? I know my 22 shuts off with the ignition but wasn’t sure about the 25’s. Sounds like they haven’t changed that between model years.

I expect it’s the same but like you, my experience is only with my 22. I’ve never measured the delay time but I know it shuts off. The fact this thing seems to stay alive for so long after you drive it, no wonder there were battery issues. That being said, I never had the battery failure but they did give me a new one after 3.5 years of use. I can’t say I’ve noticed much difference in the time after you shut it off now compared from before. It still makes a few noises long after when I walk by it. I’ve always attributed that to it’s wanting to go for a ride!

I just checked with Ford Service and tested a device. The USB-c ports on the accessory tray ARE NOT CONNECTED to the ignition circuit ... so anything that is plugged in stays on.

Or you could use a device like this one that shuts off the USB power after a programmable delay (not for use for data transfer devices, just power only)
