Coming from the “hot hatch” world, a 17” wheel at 21 lbs is not light. I have 19 x 8 TSW wheels that are “flow forged” that are right at 20 lbs. For a 17” wheel I would be expecting 17-18 lbs with “flow forging”. If you got a fully forged wheel, probably more like 15 lbs.

My first thought is that truck wheels need to be tougher but then you run a much taller sidewall than a hot hatch would. The impacts from potholes and expansion joints on 35 series tires pretty much go right into the rim.
I also came from a hot hatch where wheels were much lighter. I was comparing what I have seen available for the BS, but to your point, wheels can be made lighter and forged wheels back up the lightness with strength. Maybe manufacturers are worries about BS drivers going full Baja!

Looking at upgrading to those same tires. Any increase in road noise? Notice any decrease in driving performance? (Acceleration, cornering etc)

Yep! Brand new tire this year from Nokian, look even beefier in person. They were also quite reasonably priced.
How is the road noise with the Nokian’s?

245/50/20 Toyo AT3
20" rims 40 offset
Can you tell me what tires those are and what size?? They look awesome. I want to get 20 inch rims as well. Any advice. Do they rub? I love the way your bronco looks!

So I went ahead and but the bullet with those D14’s. Freaking gorgeous wheels. Lightweight and strong AF. Great detail. No lift. 17x8+30. Tires are Toyo Open Country ATIII 245/65/17. No rubbing at flex.
