I had a similar occurrence 1 month after I took delivery of my Big Bend last year. It's a very weird occurence that happened three times and hasn't happened since. Search the forum for "powertrain malfunction" for discussions.

Check your Ford Pass app for the actual error message, but this happened the moment I left the dealership after the purchase of my Badlands. For me, it was the Powertrain error due to a faulty shift knob from the factory. Got it replaced and it never happened again.

It's a warning lamp. According to my 2021 Owner's Manual (page 96), it indicates:

Powertrain Fault

Illuminates when the system
detects a powertrain or a
4WD/AWD fault. Contact an
authorized dealer as soon as possible.

Took it to Dealership this morning, as soon as I pulled into service garage, the warning orange wrench went off so I went back home because Service garage could not see what was going on.

I love how Ford can’t or won’t fix things unless it’s lit up like a Christmas tree
It can be frustrating, but from a technician's point of view it's not possible to fix something that doesn't appear to be broken or inoperative.

Wouldn’t it have thrown a code?

It's a power train fault, owners manual says contact the dealer asap.

Exactly my thoughts. The computer should have the fault code stored somewhere, unless the system did a "self" reset.

This would’ve been my thought too, but I was told (with the explorer I had) that unless the light was on there was nothing to do. That car would throw this light occasionally if I punched it pretty good, which seemed to then disable the turbo (and cruise control). Pulling off the highway, shutting the car off wait a couple mins, and then restarting it would always clear. I never pursued it too much & have yet to get the Sport to do it though.

Clearing the light and clearing the code are two separate things as far as I know. I can clear the light on my Lexus (gas cap) but it's a separate operation to clear the code at least with the reader I use.

When the wrench light is on, more so if blinking, the vehicle has the potential of going into limp mode to save itself, just be aware
