Can anyone help me to identify what this vent is called or how to go about getting a replacement without going through a dealer? It’s below the small side window in the cargo area. Missing the one on the right side. Thank you!!

Go to a dealer in a different vehicle than your BS. Take one for a test drive and then pop it out.

When you get back to the dealer take a look around it and tell the salesman “I like it… but there’s a piece missing… if this is the quality control ford has, I’ll pass”

🤣

From AI:

The grille located at the back of a Bronco Sport by the hatchback is part of the rear quarter pressure/cabin vent system. These vents are designed to allow air to escape from the cabin when closing the doors or hatch, preventing cabin pressure buildup, and to provide cabin ventilation.

  • Function: They are pressure relief vents (also known as cabin air pressure vents or exhaust vents) that help manage airflow and cabin venting.
  • Location: They are typically found on the interior side panels of the rear cargo area, near the hatchback opening.
  • Parts: Known officially in Ford parts catalogs as a Vent Grille (L1TZ-58280B62-A). (this is not right)
  • Aftermarket: These grilles are often covered or replaced with styling accessories like stainless steel cargo speaker covers or carbon fiber style trim

I didn’t see a part # for only the vent cover, you could go to a dealership parts department and they can look it up using your VIN

There is a Quarter Panel Trim part for models with the Cargo Management System CMS and a different trim piece without CMS but I only see the subassembly like this example:

2021-2025 Ford Bronco Sport Rear Left LH Driver Side Quarter Panel Trim OEM

This may be my only option. I’ve looked and looked and no luck. Thanks for your help!

This is another example where AI is incorrect. AI is referring to what is commonly known in industry as "air extractors" and those are typically located in a body panel that is in direct contact with cabin air on one side and outside ambient air on the other side. Dude posted a picture of a one in post #4 above in this thread.

The air extractors USUALLY have rubber flaps and are designed as AI described above as a one-way valve to only allow air to exit the vehicle when the pressure inside the vehicle is higher than the pressure outside the vehicle, but also to prevent air from coming into the vehicle (exhaust fumes, etc.).

Based on this post on this forum https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/2021-ford-bronco-sport-thumping-flapping-noise.9729/, it would seem that the flaps in our beloved BS vehicles' air extractors are made of plastic, not rubber, and have been known to make thumping noises.

I believe the air extractors are located in the lower rectangular hole shown (highlighted by the yellow rectangle) in the blue panel, as shown in the picture below:

MAYBE the vents the OP is asking about are intended to help the cabin air reach those air extractors more easily? That would surprise me because the interior panels are rarely sealed tightly enough to the body that it doesn't seem necessary that they would need to add these just for that reason. I know the amplifier and subwoofer (if equipped) are located behind those panels. Perhaps they are to aid in heat extraction for those components located behind those panels?

I suspect this is correct. The amp+DSP is in the rear left, behind the lower grille in the picture. It gets hot, so it would make sense that the airflow goes from the lower grille to the upper grille.

These grilles appear to be manufactured separately and fused to the trim piece (melted together) from what I can tell. They don't appear to be intended to be detached and replaced separately.

Ask around to locate someone who does 3D printing and they can make it for you .

The geometry is a bit complex. Without an original piece to scan, I wouldn't try to replicate it.

@FBSOB Can you show a pic of the area around the missing vent piece - does it look like the vent was cut out ?

You stated it’s the right side so that would be the passenger side - pointed to by the red arrow in the pic (and shown in that pic is the panel for the Cargo Management System)

If a Bronco Sport has a subwoofer that’s also on the right side (passenger side) as shown in the other posted pic (and shown in that pic is the panel without the Cargo Management System)

You could always try a salvage yard and look for a wrecked one.
