I've got over 600 Miles now (yea, not a lot yet), and so far, no noisy brakes at the rear when driving in reverse or forward.
I have 12.5K and the brakes, especially in reverse, are starting to get annoying.

Can this be that they came with semi-metallic or full metallic pads? They can be annoying on any vehicle once they break in. Since I won't be towing, I'll switch to ceramic pads when the current set wear out.

Not hearing anyone complain (yet) about brake dust, so it makes me think the BS does not use metallic pads.

Where are you Mark S.?

8000 on my 2022 Big Bend and none (knock-on-wood) of the brake noise issues yet. The brake dust on the front gets bad in a hurry though. I'll just have to wash it more often. Cheers!

There are lots of complaints about brake dust on the forum. Many report an increase in brake dust after complying with the earlier recall. It's quite likely that the original pad material was organic and the recall required switching to metallic/semi-metallic, which are higher friction.

Whether or not ceramic pads help with the noise issue that is the subject of the technical service bulletin (groaning/moaning noise while backing) is a crapshoot. That noise is a resonance caused by interactional vibration between two or more as yet unidentified components in the brake assembly. Changing pad material may or may not help.

Ceramic pads are not generally the answer to resonance problems. They ARE quieter than other pad material for normal brake noise. Metallic, and/or semi-metallic pad material can sometimes make a rasping or grinding noise under moderate/heavy braking which can be attenuated or eliminated using ceramic pads. Organic pad material can help with such noises as well, but at the cost of brake performance.

I have always used metallic/semi metallic when towing, to obtain best braking ability. On vehicles that are not about performance or towing, I've stuck with ceramic, as to save on dust, and rotors, as metallic pads can wear down rotors quicker than ceramic based pads. As you state, you loose some braking performance, but it depends on why you would have metallic pads in the first place.
