You said you looking to trick yours out for off road adventures there you go thats how its done.
Well um yea your right but. My wife is not fond of the camping thing so I may not need that much gear. We are day trips and comfort people. I am great at preparations and lousy at execution of a plan. So I am over thinking and probably over preparing for what I've never done. When I should just get out start small and grow. The Bronco Sport gives me comfort and ability. That's why I didn't want a jeep. The more I learn from everyone here and on line is helping me to think it through. So for that I thank you and everyone else here. I have decided that an extra skid plate or two is all I need to get started.

I am looking at the front bumper skid plate for sure. The JCR items have me a little confused for A Badlands model. I will probably go with the Go Rhino rock sliders as I do not need to buy/replace existing skid plates to use JCR sliders. But don't they have the one I would need? The evap one? Then maybe an affordable air compressor and basic recovery gear. Oh and some friends to learn from and with.

But my “modification” dream is to find a way to cut the hard top off and install a soft top. As a previous wrangler owner, I do miss me some driving with top down and no doors.
After removing interior liners to run wires for AUX lighting a such, I think it can be done…
Since the BS is a unibody (vs body-on-frame), I would assume that the roof structure provides a substantial amount of rigidity. Removing it might have some unintended consequences, especially during offroading. Cheers!

Add where and you got my problem.
I just wanted to start simple and do some trails that had mud, creeks and some crawling but that is hard in Central Illinois. I found 3 places online where I can go and learn but alas, all three are now closed.
I’m going to pressure/bribe my friends with private land to see if I can join in their reindeer games, but no luck so far.
There is Badlands off road park in Indiana I am considering. https://www.badlandsoffroad.com/
It would probably an overnight trip for me coming from Chicagoland area.

Yeah, I’ve seen that when looking at those fun stencil tear downs when looking for parts/investigating on how to have a body/bumper mounted swing away spare opposed to a hitch mount swing away.
Id just have to replace the structural integrity the roof provides with a very ridged roll bar structure, or atleast reinforce the areas I can’t/won’t cut off.

I am in the process of modifying the jcr evap and floor skid plates to fit my badlands since I have the go Rhino rock sliders. If anyone is interested I can let you know what I did there is some cutting of their skid plate involved so some may not want to do it.
