Hey all,

Random miscellaneous rant about some parts.

My wife accidentally clipped the driver's side mirror on the edge of our garage backing out the other day. It was just barely, but enough to pop the cover off and break of about a 2 inch piece of plastic from the casing - nothing major and it was a relatively clean break. Everything still works so it's just cosmetic. I've already used some Gorilla Super Glue to put it back together; it's not perfect, but you can only tell if you get up close.

Well, I decided to do some looking at parts. The section that broke was just the very edge of the casing for the mirror, which is actually a separate piece of plastic from the entire housing and pops right off.

I lookup Ford parts and am blown away; just the cover is $60 and the housing is only sold as the entire thing for almost $300. Seriously? They can't sell the separate piece?

Just wanted to vent over such a high price on a minor piece of plastic. WOW.

Look on ebay...there are a few BSs being parted out and you might get lucky.

I've seen another post on the forum where they found a part on amazon for the outer housing...... I'll see if I can find that

Have you see the price of headlights?

At some point the cheap chinese replacement parts will become available.

Will grab the same carbon covers for the back if I go this route
