It seems that today’s cars have all grown a size class in outward dimensions without offering more usable interior space.
The upside is newer cars offer far greater impact protection for the occupants. Crush zones and airbags take up space.

The same can be said for the beaters up north! I had an old Escort that Ford refused to put on the lift as the sub frame over the rear was completely rusted out. Pretty much the same for the 2006 Escape! The shocks busted through the rear wheel wells. ?

As I had a full size and baby bronco the Badlands is the you want then.
my wife had knee replaced she can no long get in our full size bronco. .She loves to go off roading .I hope the sport can handle our offroad fun.
They'll ake you just about anywhere they can go as long as it's not limited by ground. Clearance is what I've found, but it is pretty limited by ground clearance. I know it's hard going from the new full size broncos. They're just go pretty much anywhere, especially if you get the Sasquatch package or the Badlands or the like.

Also for a daily driver at least it is hard to go back to the older ones and I really don't want a car that doesn't have sidecar and airbags because they basically saved me in my dog's life when a guy ran a red light and hit me going like 45 and me and my dog both walked out of there me with just seat belt rash in him with one cut on his paw. And this was in a 2014 escape which I know they made some slight adjustments to the frame but it's basically the same vehicle as our baby broncos. I mean they hit me so hard that my car hit another car. I believe it was a Dodge avenger and we walked away with just the seat belt rash and one cut on his paw and she actually had to get surgery cuz it busted up her whole orbital socket of one of her eyes. I talked to her for about 6 months afterwards and it was this big thing and she had to get taken to the hospital and get. I think even more than one surgery we got almost t-boned it didn't hit the door but right in front of the driver's door. I'll see if I can post a picture

Here's the picture. Basically the light had turned green. I pulled forward to turn left but the guy on the other side didn't have his turn signal on so I was waiting to see if he was going to turn left or not and it literally was like 5 seconds after my light had turned green. He went blazing through the light in a like 2008 Honda pilot which is a pretty big vehicle and plowed into us and we spun around 270° and ended up hitting that other car too which end up rolling like 50 ft away till it hit the curb and it rolled backwards. So it was against the transmission and those aren't manual transmission cars so it's not like it was in neutral or the clutch was in or something.

Very true! After sitting in far too many cars at the auto show yesterday though I miss the spread out room that seems to be missing in any vehicle nowadays. Between that & gargantuan tunnels it seems nothing has as much space as it once did.
