Hello.

I was looking at the official Bronco Sport technical specs and I got a little bit confused regarding legroom.

The 42.4 inches first-row legroom is refered as maximum, so I read that the seat is in its most rearward position.

But the second-row legroom, 36.9, is also considering the first-row seat in this most rearward position?

Because, if it is so, practical real legroom would be larger, since I guess it is not usual to drive with the driver's seat at its most rearward position.

I also have read that the standard way to measure second-row legroom is with the first row seat at 40 inches.

but my experience with the BS is that the car sitting position is more upright then all my other cars. if the driver seat level is higher raised off the floor of the interior, you actually need less leg room to be comfortable.

Yes, it makes sense.

Are there specific measurements you need or want? I'm happy to take some measurements but I have no clue where they determine the numbers from.

I'm 6 ft and with the front seat mostly back there isn't much leg room in the back behind me. It's not mustang bad, but it isn't Lexus large either.

well, page 6 of the document defined SgRP (Seating ref point). it says the front seat is at the most rear most normal driving position.

hm...what is a normal driving position??? I can only assume the seat is moved all the way back. considering there are cars the seats can be moved "not normal" driving position.

Yes. All the way back would be extremely unconfortable for me. I am 5'7

I am 5'7. I am waiting my Bronco to arrive in some weeks. I think I will just test it as I go. Thanks!

me and the gf are just over 6 feet tall. we are pretty comfy up front, but passengers may be a lil cramped

I'd say at 5'7" if you find a comfortable seat position you will have adequate room in the second row. I'm 6' with longer legs and my son is 6'5". He and his buddy who's 6'1" rode to the Michigan game with me, no issues. Is it swimmy and cavernous? No, its a compact SUV. I'd say you are fine

Just checked in a crude tape measure inspection. Gas pedal to the back of my lower seat where it meets the backrest is 42". Pedal released not compressed for acceleration.
The second row seat back is 36.5" to the foot space under the driver seat. With a modest seat recline I measured 8" of clearance between the back of the driver seat and the edge of the second row seat. If you had some meaty calves that's still a good amount of space.

I think the bigger issue is the depth of the backseat. There does seem to be plenty of space between the front seat and the front edge of the backseat. But, with adults in the back, we had to switch the passengers in the back so the shorter person was behind the taller driver. Not a complaint, just trying help the OP with additional data.

I was wondering this exact same thing when I was shopping. Some cars had more front leg room, but less rear and others vise-versa. With a moving front seat, it would seem that where the seat rails are mounted(and how much travel they have) may be the main factor(assuming 2 cars that have the same overall space). They almost need to just list the overall amount of floorspace in the passenger compartment.
