Is the BS 1.5L EcoBoost the same 1.5L that have had coolant leak issues?

Conflicting information , so how do we find out what its really got in there , Ford designers may have changed systems after or before .

In that last post of the drawing , is that power info at the bottom correct for what we have in the BS ?

It has a belt for sure. One of the reasons we opted for the 2.0. I'll take my chances that they addressed the block/headgasket design flaw over that belt. Still got Ford Protect for 8/125

The BS does have different specs just like every vehicle that uses the same power plant does. Everything possibly found on the web (outside of one person posting on the forum) indicates that the 1.5 Dragon series uses a belt which is what I searched to get that diagram. If you look it up on parts.ford, it comes up as Timing Belt/Chain shared part #6268 for both 1.5 and 2.0. If someone does a teardown, I'm willing to be wrong but I just don't think so.

That info tells me nothing about the two Parts ,except they have different dimensions & cost .

While not the most scientific research, since the 1.5 Ecoboost inline 3 is used in the 2020 Focus as well as the 2021 Bronco Sport, I looked it up on Rock Auto and it is in fact a timing belt.

I don't mind a Timing Belt , they are used on some exotic engines .
Ford Bronco Sport Is the BS 1.5L EcoBoost the same 1.5L that have had coolant leak issues? 1.5 ecoboost 2

According to the Ford workshop manual, direct from Ford, this engine has a timing chain. However, the oil pump is belt driven off the crank shaft behind the timing chain sprocket.

Cool , #'s 2,3 & 4 appear to be Chain Guides , they wouldn't be used on a Belt & # 1 looks like an oil pressure activated Chain tensioner .

100% correct. And the oil pump is belt driven and the balance shaft (#10 on second pic)is gear driven. It’s definitely busy behind the timing cover on this little guy ?

Maybe thats what a lot of people are talking about , as far as a in oil Belt & not the Cam Timing Chain ?

I may have figured out the confusion…the 1.5 3cyl duratec (non ecoboost) does in fact have a timing belt. That engine would be used in the ecosport. However it does not have the cylinder deactivation feature. Maybe that might be why the ecoboost has a chain and the duratec has a belt. That’s just a guess though.
