One of the differences between the BS 22's and 23's is the loss of the rear camera washer on the 23's, does anyone know if you bought the camera/washer assembly from a 22 can you add the washer to a 23, how did you activate the washer, would you have to install a new multi lever to get it to come on?

A sprayer isn't quite enough to keep the camera lens clean, it needs a manual wipe every now and then.

I loved my ‘22 OBX. The only thing I would classify as worthless was that rear camera cleaner. It never made things better and often made things worse, especially in the cold.

I'll try to get a video next time I use mine. With RainX the water just slides right off. Clean as a whistle.

I had one on a 2016 Explorer I thought it was even better than sliced bread, great keeping the salt and winter slime of the lens.

I plan to follow the DIY and put it in my 23 BS BL per the guide already linked to earlier in this thread.

The Ford Dealer I ordered from informed me that out of my order (the rear headrests but in the 2021 foldable versions, plus the hose, nozzle, and handle part that accounts for the nozzle), the hose was backordered until something like May 7th. Not the worst wait in the world compared to some other parts...

Or maybe wiping it down?
I get that, just wipe it down , which i do with my RAV4, but what purpose of the rear camera when after driving you get to destination and have to get out and wipe down before backing up and not have use of said camera? Defeats the whole purpose of the viewing in the first place. My Explorer with the washer just a quick push of the button and go in reverse and as the oldie but goodie song would say "I can see clearly now"........

I've never thought of a washer for a camera. I have one on my Ford F150 (enclosed within the Ford Blue oval on the tailgate). It never gave me issues unless it was raining.

It failed me one time though. I had the tailgate down to haul some lumber. When I backed up into the driveway, I got a nice shot of the driveway surface, which reminded me that the driveway needed pressure washing.

I apply a good coat of RainX on the camera lens when I do my windshield. It goes far toward keeping the lens clean.
