I’m a 56 yo (as of today) man. My Bronco Sport replaced a 2019 Kia Stinger GT2 (FAST!!!) which sadly became impractical when my wife and I rescued a large breed dog. I considered myself lucky to find an Iconic Silver Big Bend with the Big Bend package abandoned at the dealer due to needing the rear bumper replaced. I would have liked a towing package but frankly was disappointed by the towing capacity of even the Badlands.

My wife just replaced a 2013 Mazda CX-5 (great car) with a Rapid Red 2020 Ford Escape SEL with the tow package (3500 lbs capacity!) and I quite like having 2 vehicles with the same controls. Both are good looking and practical.

From 2019 I liked sport look better then full size. When I was leaving the lot I had thoughts about trading BS for a full size when they are out, but I don't think so anymore.

My BB is my daily driver especially during winter, the ones I see around town have drivers of all varieties. Once spring hits I'll get my yukon out more often. No regrets at all about buying this thing.

Male, 47. Which seems to be about the average demographic here so far on the thread, even if this thread seems to prove there’s no common age or gender to the Sport.

I get it. Cars can & do project a certain image, whether or not you care what yours says about you. If you ask yourself, you probably have ideas & prejudices of drivers based on the vehicles you see in traffic, often proven correct.

I’d considered the BS’s C2 platform mates, Escape & Corsair as well, at least on paper. To the Escape, my father thought it was something just like Mom’s CR-V, something only a senior lady would be seen in. Her friends have them. TO the Corsair, a friend thought I’m not nearly old enough to consider a Lincoln, coming from a BMW driver. I guess he doesn’t consider them competition. Hey at least it’s not a Buick.

In the end I’ve said it often on here, ultimately I liked the look of the BS, I think it sets the crossover trend for the 2020s. Ford did much more than just slap ugly fender flares on an existing vehicle in a cynical cash grab. Which seems to be the way Mazda is doing it with their CX-50 too, a largely new vehicle if based on existing platforms & should be a great worthy competitor. BS has enough capability to proudly wear the Bronco name, even if I might use it at most to explore logging & oilfield roads, or at least get out of my back alley garage in winter & hit up the speed bumps at the community mall.

So what will it be replacing for me? Just a dog’s breakfast of random vehicles each bought to try to keep rolling over the last 5 years. To get a proper compact that I’ve wanted for suburban driving has been a decade in the making. But yes, just as there’s no one demographic to fit a certain vehicle necessarily, your own changing fleet might not fit a certain pattern either when you think about it.
1. 2020 Explorer - Pandemic panic buy vehicle which no longer fits my needs and perhaps never did. A divorce ultimately meant I really don’t need this car in my life. Driving it until I can turn it in For the BS.
2. 2007 MDX - would’ve just kept driving this one, but at the time needed two vehicles & this became the 2nd vehicle to the explorer. When it became just me & the dog, I only need 1 vehicle now but had to keep making payments on the explorer so let this one go.
3. 1993 Explorer - Awesome cheap 2nd vehicle 4 season daily for size in the city & doing truck like things, a worthy replacement for both the mustang & F150. The one owner church on Sunday vehicle, but major mechanical failure necessitated replacement.
4. 1989 Mustang - pictured in another thread, the 2nd car I should’ve kept, made a great 3 season small car daily to supplement the F150 when it was clear it wasn’t going to meet my needs.
5. 2007 F150 - ordered new to meet my exact needs at the time, my favorite vehicle so far and one I should’ve just kept. But too large for the city life I grew to love. Still kept it 10 years & 200k, sold it, then the rest of my life kinda went downhill necessitating a 5 year vehicle scramble to keep rolling. The BS is my comeback car for sure.

57, male. Wife and I looked at a full size and the bs and I wanted the bare bones full size with the samsquanch package. Wife wanted me to trade in my f150 (w/8’ box) for it which was a hard no. She likes loaded veh so she traded her 2018 focus titanium for a 21 badlands in cyber orange. Since I have an off-road YouTube channel (low range in Nova Scotia) and she has a 02 explorer on 33’s and is very capable off roader, she wants to drive it all the time. Since I have my truck, she traded her car, it’s “hers”. But I do drive it a lot. Put 3400kms on it in 3 weeks now, a LOT of it off road and then to the dealership to fix it??
Tore the plastic skid plate down that’s beneath the gas tank and right now waiting for a new front right inner fender from the dealership as this one is too tore up.
VERY capable in the right hands!
Edit: we also have a 91 ranger on 35’s, and a 06 ranger on 33’s we wheel with too.

If you google the Land Rover, I forget the model, you’ll see Ford copied much from The British make. The side fake air outlets and the grill shape and many other touches, little things all over the inside and outside,
The BS stands apart from all the stuff from across the pacific that all looks alike to me and all way way overdue for retooling, making new engines. All they are doing is body part changes.

Male, married for 18 years with 2 teenagers.

I’ve seen more female drivers than male drivers. And most of those have been the outerbanks. I try to not assume a vehicle is suited to any one gender or age. I picked the bronco sport cuz it’s a daily driver, awesome safety ratings and it’s traction control options living in the frozen tundra. I also learned to drive on a 1989 manual bronco sport II. So it had some sentimental value to me as it felt like a tip of the hat to that car and I loved that thing.

I have noticed that too, I'm in my late teens/early 20s and enjoy driving my bronco sport outer banks but I feel like the bs is designed for all demographics with all of the different trim levels which is pretty cool.

33, male. Married with a kid.
Got this Sport BB because it fits my family. Any more kids might need something bigger. But for our life it's perfect in size and gas. I use to ride motorcycles as a daily and ever since my daughter was born I have less time for that. So wanted something that has off road capability so I can take my daughter and have as a daily for my 65 mile round trip commute for work (correction officer)

Who cares what others think. You do you and make it yours. Never cared what others think of what I drove. If they ain't paying the car note or gas then it shouldn't matter. Lol

Female, 57, married, no kids, just 2 dogs. Hubby drives an F250. Got rid of my Wrangler because it was a rust bucket and the gas mileage sucked. Wanted something that didn't look like every other vehicle out there.

Don't buy a car based on other people's needs or wants or what you believe other people think. In other words, don't buy a car based on marketing, for this is the surest way to being disappointed with what you get.

Here's are two thought experiments:
  1. You're driving your Bronco Sport and someone in another car you don't know and will never see again for the rest of your life thinks, "Wow, that dude looks gay driving that car."
  2. You're driving your Bronco Sport and someone in another car you don't know and will never see again for the rest of your life thinks, "Wow, that dude looks really manly driving that car."
What is the real-life consequence to you in either of these cases?

Here's my advice: List your vehicular needs and wants in order of priority, then find the vehicle that most closely matches them. Then drive it with this thought always in mind: Other drivers are not thinking about you...at all...so drive defensively.

Moved to BS from an F-150 Crew Cab 4x4. I don't miss it a bit, especially when parking or navigating tight places. I was tired of a big vehicle just in case several of us needed to go somewhere. I need a DD and drive alone 95% of the time.

Love the mileage and AWD on demand. I did add the 2" Woolworth lift and Falken 235 AT/Trail tires for better grip. I have a half mile driveway that can be a challenge after stormy weather. Getting stuck is something I don't want to experience anymore.

I laugh at the lifted/squatted trucks on the road these days. I'm sorry, but people are so silly about their self image, so I feel this is a valid topic. I like the look and feel of the BS and haven't been this thrilled about a vehicle in decades.

Buy what you like and like what you buy. People really don't care much when it really comes down to it. Enjoy life!

A friend from school years drove a beat up magenta colored Geo Tracker. Every one of his friends gave him a hard time about that vehicle, in good fun, of course.
