On my 2023 Badlands, the USB ports DO NOT illuminate - as I understand it, this feature went away for either the 2022 or 2023 model year. I have looked up the VIN for 2021 models with what looks like the same USB port in the dashboard under the radio, and also my VIN, and both call for the same part number.

The port currently installed in my car appears to have the ability to light up, so my question is, what did Ford change? Is there an unused pin for illumination? Did they not solder LEDs into the circuit board on the USB hub?

Anecdotally only, but my 2022 BL has illuminated USB ports. It was of the last ones made for that model year.

Looks like my 22 BL made the cut. Seems like a very minor feature to get rid of, though. If I had to guess, there's now an unused pin and the part is different compared to what you'd find in vehicles with the LED. I've seen folks plug and play the center console piece with ambient lighting in the cupholders on the OBX, but the connector has to actually be present for it to work.

My 2023 OBX doesn't light up either...but the ones on my 2021 did. Strange that it's the same part number and revision.

The USB port as well as the harness with the connector is THE SAME part number - both the harness AND the port show the same P/N as the illuminated version….I need to see if there is a missing wire or pin on the connector

Oh no, no USB lights? Say it isn't so!

I'm staying away from windows at any high rise buildings today.

So I took my out of my 2023 and all the power you need is there its just the wrong part. The illuminated part # is K7EDB ML3T-14F014-BB.

Well, ML3T-14F014-BB is not an engineering number that will transfer over to any useful part number.

I looked up a 2021 Outer Banks VIN, and it shows P/N: ML3Z*19A387*D - which is the exact same P/N for my 2023 Badlands - mine doesn't light up I really wonder if they just left a pin out of the connector or something.

Hi, I just bought the 2021 and that is one of my favorite things!

Engineering number: ML3T-14F014-BB crosses over to part number: ML3Z*19A387*E - there are TWO remaining in the United States - I am ordering one, I will report back what I find when I install it.

Could be a part 'revision', i.e., an A, B, or other letter suffix - although I can't imagine someone with a '21 getting service and having them say "sorry, they don't light up anymore".
