Hi everyone,

I'm attempting this mod for the first time and have hit a roadblock. So far, I haven't been able to get the CCM to connect to the IPMA.
I've confirmed that the CCM is receiving power, but I haven't yet verified continuity on the CAN connection wires I ran. I’m working with a base Bronco, and I’m starting to wonder if this setup is even feasible on this model or if there’s something I’m overlooking.
Does anyone have experience with this or insights into whether this is possible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

All broncos have the same IPMA regardless of trim so it should work; I’d double check your CANBUS wiring. Your cluster should start complaining as soon as it’s connected properly. Is your CCM from a sport? I tried to use one from another ford and had tons of issues, despite being the exact same model. It’s the firmware on it

I double-checked a few things and realized that I had wired it incorrectly. It didn't start complaining right away; however, I can see the CCM in FORScan registering a DTC about the VIN, which was expected.

So far, so good. I'm not sure why it's not indicating the need for calibration on the info cluster, but I've considered that it might be due to the smaller info screen on my dash cluster, and that it simply doesn't support that display. This is pure speculation at this point, but I'm working through it.

As for the CCM, I have no idea what it was pulled from—I bought it on eBay from a parts store. I didn't realize that was something to consider, but I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. Hopefully, I won't encounter too many issues, though, given my luck in life, I'm not holding my breath.

Quick Update:
Turns out, it was a wiring issue—rather silly on my part. Once I got that sorted, I managed to program everything, and it was working just fine.
However, when I took it out on the interstate, I ran into a new hiccup: the system reported that something was blocking the radar. While it hasn't prompted me for calibration or thrown a DTC for one, I suspect a calibration might be in order. I plan to tackle that next to see if it resolves the issue.

Main takeaway:
This upgrade works on a barebones Bronco Sport Base! Big thanks for the excellent writeup and the incredible support from the forum members. You guys rock!

Nice! Definitely carefully level the sensor (use the flattest surface you can find!) and then run both the CCM calibration and the lane keep assist calibrations. Otherwise it will be scanning the completely wrong area and get spooked by cars in different lanes or overhead passes

You will get an error every few startups where adaptive cruise is unavailable due to a DTC in IPMA. I have a workaround for that coming soon though ;)

Aye, I leveled, and calibrated, the CCM as best as I could. I'll go ahead and run the calibration for lane-keeping assist too—appreciate the advice!
I honestly can't wait for the workaround; that's exactly what I came to ask about, haha!

Ford Bronco Sport How to Retrofit ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) to Bronco Sport -- Modification / Install Guide (DIY Writeup & Video)) IMG_4534

Hi everyone, I'm installing the ACC retrofit and pins 3 and 11 on the IPMA connector are already populated. Has anyone else encountered this? How should I proceed in this case? The model already came with lane keep assist.
Thanks in advance for any help! :)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice. I followed the tutorial and configuration steps using FORScan Easy Mode as mentioned in this group,

https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/how-to-retrofit-acc-adaptive-cruise-control-to-bronco-sport-modification-install-guide-diy-writeup-video.8341/post-226185

but I’m still running into issues. I’d really appreciate any insight into what I might be doing wrong.

Here is my experience so far:

After completing the hardware installation, I started the vehicle and immediately got the message:

“Front Sensor Not Aligned”

I updated the VIN in the CCM and started the CCM calibration.
Drove above 30 mph on a straight road.
After about 8 minutes, the “Front Sensor Out of Alignment” message disappeared.
Pressed OK in FORScan and the task showed 100 percent completion.

Then I configured the modules to enable ACC using FORScan Easy Mode.

After that, I reset and cleared all DTCs.
After ignition off and back on, the following messages appeared:

“Pre-Collision Assist Not Available”
“Front Camera Fault Service Required”

I scanned for DTCs and found the following:

IPMA
C1001:54-28
Vision System Camera
Missing Calibration
Signal Plausibility Failure

CCM
C1001:08-2E
Vision System Camera
Bus Signal or Message Failures

I then performed IPMA calibration. It completed 100 percent successfully.

Cleared DTCs again.
Ignition off, then back on.
The same DTCs return immediately.

Adaptive Cruise Control will not engage.

At this point I’m unsure if I’m dealing with possible:

  • A calibration issue
  • A configuration mismatch between modules
  • A hardware incompatibility
  • wrong configuration
  • Or something related to network communication

Has anyone experienced similar behavior after ACC retrofit?
Any ideas on what I should check next?

CCM
C1001:08-2E
Vision System Camera
Bus Signal or Message Failures

The IPMA code that ends in 28 is a stored code.....this is the one (IMO) causing the issue. Seems like it is not communication with the CAN bus network properly. First thing that comes to mind is to check the connections between CCM and IPMA to make sure they are seated properly.

What year is your BS? Is it a US or LATAM spec?

Did you check all the connection on the IPMA to make sure they are snug?
Bronco Sport Heritage 2024 with lane keep assist.

I welded but would will double check again

Pull the ab data from your IPMA with FORScan, convert the file to txt and post it or send to me via message. I doubt I'll be and to dig through it until Sunday, but I'll look to see if I see anything off.

I missed two settings: IPMA traffic jam and APIM acc plus acc menu

After this change the centering lane turned available and working

My problem now is that every time the vehicle starts, the system shows as unavailable, and then I have to turn the car off and on again, and only then does the system become available.

I am going to replace the LAN cable to twisted 22awg to try to resolve this issue

Check the settings in the IPC. The config need to be correct there, too.
